There's a big hoarding up by the side of the Winter Palace where they knocked down the little market there with a view to how the new hotel extension will look when it's finished.

I think someone reckoned it wouldn't be completed till 2017

But, it looks like they will do away with traffic along the corniche (before the Luxor temple) approaching from the Etap direction. It seems it will be pedestrianised and will look again as it did originally with the paved area going straight down to the Nile.

There are some original images in the Gaddis shop that's situated underneath the entrance stairway at the front of the Winter Palace.

I too have seen some images you refer to, but cannot think where I found them. I will keep looking...
