Ok folks it is that time of year when I start thinking about next year, coz I like to book my next holiday before I go away on this - that way I have something to look forward to when I get back
Looking at mid march next year and at the moment the options are Maspalomas or Egypt. We are a couple in our 50s who like to get warm but spend our time visiting places rather than lying on the beach or round the hotel pool. Normally go half board.
I suspect, on here, more people are going to suggest Maspalomas, but why??
I am also posting this on the Egypt board.
Thanks for your advice
Dave
Much as I love GC..there is better diving in Egypt, hotter weather (although GC can get hot) and better history..although due to size, GC is better to explore.
I have posted my answer in Egypt thread too.
Been to GC - Puerto Rico
been to Sharm (Sharks Bay / Neamma Bay /El Hadaba and Ras um Sid)
So I'm a little biased but both places are completely different holidays in terms of style and price
GC is more compact and easier to get round -- well I would hire a car there
Sharm is an active holiday base obviously Scuba is like nothing you can find in GC and there are lots of other activities available there but if you want history it's either a very long coach trip (St Margaret's Mount) or a plane flight (Pyramids) away and there is no way I would hire a car there at all.
The only way to pick what YOU need from a holiday is go to both and take YOUR pick ---- us we will be back in Sharm when I'm fit enough
Gran Canaria anytime.
We have booked Luxor for next March which seems to tick all the boxes we needed to tick.
Thanks for the comments though.
Dave
Maybe you can book an extra holiday later in the year,Gran Canaria is a really good destination for a holiday
Lady, much as I'd love to - I'm booked for a week in Luxor in March, Rhodes in June and 2 weeks in Turkey in September.
