I think you may find the Antayla area a lot different from Olu Deniz and Kalkan. We normally holiday in Olu Deniz but for the past three years we have gone to Belek in May where my husband plays golf with some mates and I relax with their wives. Belek is full of 5 star hotels and golf courses. Each complex has its own stretch of beach and there are no bars or restaurants near by. The hotels are fabulous though and we have enjoyed our holidays there but always say that we would never go there for our main 2 week holiday. There are some nice places to visit. Aspendos is magnificent, the Duden waterfalls are lovely Antalya Harbour is very nice. We visited Side last year and the old harbour area was more like Olu Deniz with lots of restaurant and bars, but I think most of hotels are located some distance from this.
Great thankyou for the tips ! We will maybe look elsewhere then ... Would you recommend Side in comparison to Olu Deniz and Kalkan ? I think once you have been to these two places you have been spoilt !! but we don;t really like to go back to the same place twice with so many other places to see !
Hi, It is not all big hotels and areas like Belek if you fly into Antalya, if you travel about one to two hours away from Antalya you will find small resorts. We visit Andrasan also known as Cavus Bay it is a small resort with small hotels situated around a bay, there are excellent restaurants and a few shops. It maybe too quiet for you it is really laid back a couple bars, plenty of walks and beautiful scenery. Another lovely place on a beautiful bay is Cirali again quiet. If you google these you will find more information. It really depends how much life you want, they are both much quieter than Olu Deniz or Kalkan.
I only visited Side for a couple of hours but I got the impression that the old harbour area didn't have anywhere (I saw one tiny hotel) to stay. The famous ruins are in this area, with the fabulous Temple of Apollo and the ampi theatre etc spreading across quite a large area. Its a great place to visit with lots of restaurants, it had a village feel to it, similar to Olu Deniz and Kalkan. But the hotels were located further along the bay and looked similar to Belek with Big 4 - 5* hotels occupying most of the front. A 5 minute bus ride away.
