Hi Westmoormag - the airport is very small, but we found it to be efficient. I just asked hubby what he remembered of it - we were there 2 years ago, and his description was " a thatched roofed hut" It wasn't quite that, but not much bigger to be honest. I'm sorry I can't help with the transfer times as we weren't cruising.

Helen that wasn't La Romana airport. Although we stayed in La Romana the package we booked flew us into Punta Cana airport a 2 hour transfer away.

It's a while since I was at La Romana Airport, but it's pretty modern compared to some caribbean airports with the usual faciliies. There's a large departure lounge with the usual shops and snacks available, and a nice VIP lounge with some excellent views over the apron / runway. There's not a lot of seating in the departure lounge and the last time I was their, air conditioning was poor so it's worth looking at the lounge for a bit of comfort and a snack / drink before boarding. I can't help with the transfer as I was staying in Juan Dolio, but I wouldn't imagine it would be far.

hi, we went on the destiny in dec 10,it took us about 40mins from ship to la romana airport,in my opinion the airport is very basic and small it as only a few shops and not many places to eat on the 2 occaasions we have visited our flights were delayed by several hours we were issued with food vouchers but most of the eating places had run out of food so we had to buy sweets and chocolate to eat so if i were you i would try and take something to eat with you just in case.hope you have a great holiday julie and tony

yer ,we have done the tropical transatlantic for the last 2 years and we really enjoyed it,the destiny is quite a old ship and cabins very small (but you dont spend much time in them) i dont think the service was as good this year.but having said that we had a great holiday at a good price and visited some really good places .
