Hi corinnelynne,we have friends at gatwick for the monarch flight they are with their daughter and have now been waiting 10 hours,it now seems they are saying 06.00 sunday, really feel for everyone stuck at airports at the moment, fingers crossed they get off as soon as possible !!!!!!!
what a nightmaare...poor things!! its worse with a child too...my friend has been stranded at Mumbai since yesterday afternoon, his jetairways flight to Heathrow cancelled.. no info!!
damn snow!!
Thought Kev and family would be coming out with you guys??
Chilly
they are still at gatwick, ony infomation they have is that a rep will be there at 7.30
We were on that return flight last week (MON2491).
Did your son book a package holiday?
I might be wrong but I thought it was the tour operator who should be responsible.
What does it say in the T&Cs of his booking form?
I wonder what Thomson are doing about their passengers on the TOM052 flight from Gatwick to Goa.
That was due out yesterday at 18:40 and is showing as delayed to 19:00 - as it's still on the Gatwick list I presume it hasn't departed yet, maybe it means 19:00 today.
There's only 7 flights delayed from yesterday on the Gatwick departure list AND some flights hae already taken off this morning.
I do know that the plane that Monarch use for the MON2490 flight goes out from Manchester on Fridays as MON6382, returns as MON6383, then repositions to Gatwick for MON2490.
MON6383 was just under 4 hours late coming back and wasn't expected to land at Manchester until 18:33 last night.
my friend who is stuck in mumbai is now on his way back to Goa as they (Jetairways) have told him there will be no flights to Heathrow today or tomorrow and that when they do start they have to shift the people who dont have visas first (ie a lot who have arrived from Thailand in transit) and all those with valid visas are being put to the back so to speak and also the people who come after the cancelled flights have priority, they have informed my friend that it could be days before they can fly him!! just as well he can stay here!! as Goa rooms will be pretty booked at this time of year
Monarch are required by European law to look after you.
they eventually boarded the plane at 10.30 this morning and were then told all luggage had to be re checked.
this was off loaded on the tarmac and each passenger had to identify their bags. but they couldnt do this yet because they had no salt for the steps
finally took off at 1.45 this afternoon
they were on flight only,so their contract is with monarch
Makes no difference.European law has clear rules for how passengers should be looked after in the event of a delay or cancellation.

Was a bit lazy not looking up the links myself.
The important thing is the airlines are required to have a copy of the regulations at the check in.
We have been delayed on a Thomson flight and although I had to ask for a copy of the regulations they adhered to them and overnighted us in a hotel.
Mornach being one of the worst carriers around it seems are trying to avoid their obligations.
Couple of things I would like to say.
Thomson have always been first class whenever we have had a delay.
More importantly as the airlines now have to adhere to this new EU regulation 261/2004 it follows that their costs increase by a lot.
They most certainly are not in business to lose money so the new regulations have driven up the cost of a ticket.
So no more cheap flighs to Goa. See its the EUs Fault
I love the logistics side of airline travel and like to figure out the cost of delays etc.
One whole boeing 767 with up to 300 passengers having to be hoteled.
Wow whats the cost and then times that by twenty aircraft and you see where its going.
Someone once asked how to become a millionaire..... His friend said Start as a Billionaire and then open an airline.
I have of course para-phrased.
My very best wishes to anyone trying to escape the madness that is the U.K. at the moment.

Also the flight was cancelled due to a technical fault
That's interesting Gemma, I had noticed that the Saturday Thomson flight had been rescheduled to the 21st 02:00hrs. As we are due to fly on Wednesday with Thomson I was working out whether this would be our plane, it just about has time to get there turn around and then pick us up! But your comment makes me wonder if this is the same plane which had a technical problem about 10 days ago, I asked about it on the flight operators thread and Dazbo said it had suffered a technical problem, think I would preferred a different plane. Fingers, toes and everything crossed that we get away on Wednesay, just about to get the suitcases out to start packing!
Hope you get away ok Miccie. Are you off to the MD again?
Hi Gemma, yes we are, very late booking this year, didn't think that we were going to go, so definately fingers crossed that we have no more snow!
Have a great holiday
Heading a bit
checked in.
So if you are delayed and not checked in (i.e. the airline tells you not to go to the airport or as in recent weeks the airport doors are locked shut) what happens then? Can they swerve their obligations?
Incidentally, I wouldn't fly Monarch unless there was absolutely no other option - we've been treated terribly by them in the past and on more than one occasion.

we have just returned from a great holiday in Egypt flew with Monarch no problems outward in fact arrived early
On arrival at Luxor we checked in etc went through departure gate to be greated with "flight delayed" 45 mins!!
the alotted time came and went with no flight or information
after a total 1hr hour delay the captain came into departure lounge and told us that flight was cancelled due to tech fault and we would not fly until 1830hrs the following day!! after a bit of groaning and moaning from some passengers we were then whisked away to hotels, we found ourselves in the Nile palace (and very nice too) all meals and soft drinks inclueded, so we had to spend an extra day in the sun watching the Nile go buy Flight took off 18.30 next day as promised and the captain was most appologetic and we all recveied another free drink i dont know if we were just lucky but i cannot fault the service we received so on this occasion .... well done Monarch
