We went to Borovets and stayed at the Hotel Lion, a bit of a walk from the ski lifts (or short hop on hotel mini bus) but it was really quite nice and very quiet in the evenings when you are shattered and just want to sit by the fire. The ski resort itself was fine, but being a beginner couldn't really comment on harder runs etc, but generally the snow quality was pretty good.
