As from 10th Jan 2011, all foods drinks and medicines sold in Cyprus , will incur a 5% VAT EXCEPT ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES which will have 15% to cover it's Cyprus' EU obligations

I thought that beers, wines and soft drinks were already taxed at 15% VAT ?

The hike applies to foodstuffs, medicines and vaccines, and to beverages other than alcoholic drinks (beer, wine) and soft drinks that are already sold with a VAT of 15 per cent.
