Just thought i would say hello. I used to have an account on here 2-3 years ago,but have long since forgotten my user name.Anyway we have booked to go back in november.
Has a lot changed in the last 3 years?
Has the fast food Conglomerate forced it greedy little foot in the door yet?
Have the general prices increased Exponentially,or will i still get by on £50-£60 per day ?(family of 4)
Thank you
Mark
You'll definitely see a lot of change - there's a great deal of building all over the coastal strip and Baga especially has changed.
The good news - no Macdonalds yet but plenty of Dominoes Pizza, Cafe Day and a Subway.
The £50 per day for four people is easily achievable but it all depends where you eat. You can spend that on dinner for two in some places but if you eat in the better value places, you can even do it for a good deal less. Prices in the shacks have risen but it's still not expensive.
Enjoy!
there is also a kentucky fried chicken now open in panjim,,,,do come along to the meets on wednesdays at the carvery in candolim and say hello in person
Talking of buliding work, is that big complex at Candolim crossroads open yet, or anywhere near finished ?
We were opposite it in dec spike and i could'nt see it being finished before the end of the season didnt seem to be that far forward from when we were there in the march.
Cheers, was still a big hole in the ground last season, and concern for the 'barbers row' down the side.
Spike they had a few floors built and a roof but that was all, the worker's were there till late at night with just a lamp for a light but it's slow progress.
yes as everyone has said a great many changes in three years but still a great holiday choice and also still cheap compared to many other places in the world, there is as already said a plethora of new buildings, 4/5*hotels new houses etc and many more Indian Tourists than before... and Russians, many more smart cars on the roads... still as mad though!!! but also increased choice of good (cheap) restaurants and the shops stock much more if you intend to self cater occassionally!! as many now do.... oh and some pavements here and there too and lifeguards on the beaches!!
All in all despite some increases i think you will still find it hugely cheaper than the uk and warmer and still 'Goa'!!
