My Mum aged 75 and her sister 68 are looking to go on holiday. They would like somewhere warm but not to hot....not difficult as they are looking to go in March this year...They would prefer a hotel on a HB basis but more importantly and area where they can go for nice long walks with plenty of interesting things to see.Bars and clubs are of no interest to them but shops and maybe somewhere with historical interest is.Because of their ages they would prefer somewhere not to hilly and not to touristy if you know what I mean...also not to long a flight time say up to 3 hours
Any suggestions please
I was thinking Fuengirola,Nerja, but not to sure if there is a lot to see and do there
Can any of you think of anywhere
Flight time is around 3 - 3 1/2 hours and won't be too hot in March. Bugibba and Qawra are a little touristy but quite central, Sliema has the shops and a great promenade to walk along. For a quieter resort but further out try Mellieha although Mellieha village is situated on a hill. Steer clear of Paceville which is very close to St. Julians as that is the clubbing area of Malta.
Most importantly is that they will feel very safe in Malta. My mum aged 86 visits every year travelling on her own and uses the buses and also walks a lot - she loves it.
If you need any more info please ask!

Malta was our first choice Pippa...unfortunately flights from our local airport don't start until late April so that's why we've had to have a re think
Strange, started reading the post and my first thought was ............................Malta
What airport are you looking at as I know Air Malta are starting their flights from Norwich at the beginning of April.
Any chance they could delay it a little or even fly from an airport further away as Malta really is the ideal destination for them.
Pippa
Malta immediately came to mind for me too!
We know 2 ladies who regularly visit for 4wks each year and stay in Bugibba. They fly from the North of England but not sure which airport they use.
Is there not another airport close by they could try?
Shell
Limassol, Cyprus
Malta comes to mind here as well. Shame about the airport thing.
Cardiff is our local but they are able to go from Bristol as well....unfortunately the only flight out of Bristol is at 6.30am with Ryan air....neither of which appeals to them.....neither of them drives so that would mean they would have to travel up the day before and stay over....adding to the cost....Menorca was their second choice but neither airport has a flight until May
We keep in touch and they go away every year to the Costa del Sol.
There are usually flights to Malaga all year round but as I have never been to this area I cant recommend any resort or hotel.
I've been to the Costa del sol myself,Torremolinos and Benalmadena...neither of which I think they would like...I was thinking the quieter more upmarket resorts may be better....
The Algarve would be nice but nicer away from Albufeira - head west towards Lagos instead.
We have been to Nerja (flying to Malaga) which is very nice but also very hilly.
Pippa
Nerja might suit them, staying at the Balcon de Europa Hotel, right on the sea front. Lovely little town with lots of little shops and cafes. Just looked at the Thomsons site and the flight from Cardiff leaves at 7.25 in the morning. If you want to ask any thing else just ask.
It's a headache to be honest trying to find something....as neither of them drives an early flight isn't an option as they have to get a train from where we live to Cardiff then a bus from the station to the airport
First train that leaves here is around 6am and it's a good 2 hour journey plus the bus....as you have to be at the airport at least 2 hours before flight they wouldn't be able to have a flight much before 12pm.....this limits us to choice
Bristol would be ok as my aunt's daughter lives there and is willing to put them up the day before and take them to the airport....unfortunately almost every holiday I've found is flying with ryan air....and they don't want to fly with them.....Impossible task
Its a fairly long transfer, but that should be easy ebough to organise and they need to make sure their accommodation is in Nerja and not up in Frigiliana, which is not really flat enough.
Somewhere else I went years ago in southern spain called Mojacar might suit as well. Once again they would need to be in Mojacar Playa rather than Mojacar Village.
As they want a short flying time the choices are limited at this time of year I'm afraid.....Caz
Just thought I'd let you know they have decided to wait...my aunts husband has rheumatoid arthritis and hes taken a turn for the worst so she's had to give up her slot for respite care that she booked for end of March/beg April........they are hoping if he improves they can go in May and then they'll be able to go to Malta as they originally wanted
