Hi all, I am looking at going away in mid May this year. Can anyone recommend somewhere hot? I know Egypt is hot but is there anywhere else anyone can recommend?
Thanks!!
Have you thought about the Canaries? They are generally speaking pretty hot most of year.
Good idea. Is it warm enough to go in sea at that time of year??
Depends how hot you want it, but we always go to Turkey in May. Usually you get temps in the mid 70s. Last year in 14 days we had one day of it being rainy and a couple of overcast days but the rest of the time it was glorious and we all got great tans. That kind of temp is ideal for me. The evenings can be coldish though - you need a light jacket or cardi to go out in.
what do you class as hot? I've had heatstroke on the Algarve in May but the sea isn't that warm because it's the North Atlantic and unheated pools may not have warmed up as fast as the air.
We went to Cyprus early May and it was hot but a bit cooler on an evening. By the end of the 2 weeks it was noticeably hotter both during the day and on the evening.
The pools in the Algarve always seem cold to me to - have been 3 times in July. At 9.30 in the morning they are a bit chilly and by 5pm at night a lot warmer (and busier !), then the next morning back to being cold again.
Can't really help as far as the sea is concerned whether hot or not? I don't like fishes so rarely go in the sea
thanks for all the responses! sorry been without net for a few weeks (nightmare!). So Egypt is def out the window!! Really glad we didn't book and decided to think about other places!
Been to Canaraies in May, really hot but sea and pools are still cold. Also been to Cyprus and Turkey in May and both the pools and the sea passed my big toe test!
Gambia maybe, think its a wintersun type place so should be hot at beginging of May.
We have been to Turkey the few years in May and its always been hot.
