I have family who have a guesthouse on the great barriar island off of New Zealand. I'm thinking of visiting them at the beginning of a trip around NZ; any tips on where the best place would be to fly to and how to travel onwards to the island?

Great Barrier Island is 90km NE of Auckland, NZ. There are two airlines that fly to Great Barrier; Fly My Sky and Great Barrier Airlines and there is also Sealink Ferry all year and Fullers Ferries during the summer.
