Well Tetanus and Hep A are advisable for all foreign travel, not just Turkey. Typhoid is pretty much unheard of in western resorts and Hep B is caught through infected blood and again that could happen anywhere. Polio? I'm not sure, I know children are always vaccinated against this anyway and it comes as part of their DTP with tetanus and diptheria.

I have never had any additional vaccinations for Turkey that I wouldn't normally have for Greece, Spain etc, ever when I lived there for a few years. My daughter had her baby vaccinations in Turkey and they don't vaccinate against Typhoid there.

Torba is near Bodrum so it isn't way out to the East or something.

I certainly don't want to give you any recommendations, just saying what I have done ;)

There are no mandatory jabs for Turkey and an awful lot of visitors never have any and they have nor suffered. However, jabs for Tetanus and Hep A are these days, along wit ha 'flu jab,a sensible thing to have as a matter of normal health protection. Both can be caught in the UK just as easily as here. How many of you tend the garden? Lots of you-easiest place to get infected with tetanus!Go camping or having picnics?Another couple of great spots to get it....

Hi all, we are going to colakli in september with the grandkids and we have been to turkey many many times but, never had any vaccinations done , my neighbour said that we should be getting the kids done is this correct? They are 6 and 9 yrs and all their vaccinations are upto date here. We have not taken the kids to turkey before and I would not have even thought about it if it had not been mentioned. Would appreciate your thoughts guys :que

Im traveling to marmaris in May so went & had my travel vaccinations last week.
I was only given hep A though!
I've read over & over again that you also need the Typhoid jab so i've just called up my docs & booked me & my kids in for this also.
Don't want 2 take any risks, especially not with my kids, one is diabetic & the other asthmatic where as i'm a hypercondriac!! lol

I work in a doctors surgery and you don't need typhoid for south western Turkey but if you feel you want it then it wont do you any harm.

Haven't had any side effects arm feels a bit bruised if pressed but nothing painful. Kids might get different jabs not sure :que Make sure you take them decent time before you go as flu like symptoms can be side effect.

Younger children should already be covered for their DTP from their baby vaccinations anyway
