Our apologies to anyone who arrived for their holidays in Cyprus since Wednesday :(

The weather seems to have taken a bit of a tumble over the last couple of days. It clouded over yesterday and we had heavy rain during the night (Akrotiri, Limassol area).

It was lightning when we went to bed last night but we experienced no thunder, although I'm advised there was some on the Eastern side of Limassol (Pyrgos - near Elias Beach Hotel / Atlantica Bay Hotel areas).

The weather is shown to be a bit "iffy" over the next few days. Saying that, it's was overcast today but not all day. We've still had sunshine and temperatures forecast for 27C but that's quite a bit cooler than the 30's we've had and still some humidity, which is unusual for this late in September.

You can check out the local forecast here: http://www.cyprus-weather.com/

This has been the weirdest summer since we arrived in March 2004. The summer seemed to start a bit later than normal and although we do get rain in October for a few days, I don't recall getting rain so early for the last 7 years.

Can I honestly ask what the weather will be like on average late october, we had hoped to make it earlier in year but due to illness had to cancel - I just want some r & r and a chance to swim in the sea, and dread the thought of going farther a field, is weather better on east side, last time in Paphos it always seemed a degree or to higher over the otherside.
If it was windy and cold would rather stay at home, any help and advice.

Normally the winter weather is fine in Cyprus until the 2nd week of January when it changes and we get temperatures anywhere from 13C up to around 16C but this winter has been quite dreadful so far....

We've been here just a few weeks short of 8 years and in that time have never set foot back in UK. My parents come over to visit at the beginning of November for 4 weeks each time and up till this last year, have had really good weather. The 2 years previous to 2011 they've gone through the whole holiday without a single drop of rain but this winter, it was much cooler, got overcast almost every afternoon although it was fairly pleasant up till 2pm most days.

Very weird and I don't like it one little bit! :(

Bring me summer - NOW!

we are looking to get married in Paphos next year in September, and I wondered what the weather was like? Is it likely that we'll have nice enough weather for tans and no rain?

We always go at the end of September, last year our Friends got married while we were there on 6 October, the weather was lovely, we had been there a week before the wedding and all had good tans for the photos :)

September is one of the nicest months in Cyprus.

Nice, sunny, blue skies and the humidity drops so no more leaking skin all day... That's "sweat" - ughh!
July and August are very hot and sweaty months!

Just make sure your dress isn't too heavy, otherwise you will be melting... We got married at the beginning of November in Paphos (a long time ago) and the weather was fantastic then so you shouldn't worry too much about September.

With the way the weather has been so far, you would be better advised to seek the help of a crystal ball :(

We had some really nice days last week but it clouded over again towards the end of the weekend and cooled down. Yesterday there was heavy rain and thunder in the West (Paphos) with some rain over the mountain villages in Limassol district. In the early hours of this morning around 5.00am we awoke to heavy rain pounding on the bungalow roof and against the bedroom windows. We had some heavy rain again at around 7.00am and then thunder/lightning and rain at about 11.00am in Limassol.

So basically, it's anybody's guess.

As a rule, April is in the mid to high 20's but with cooler evenings so a fleece or lightweight jacket may be in order. The first couple of evenings you may find you won't need a fleece but once you become accustomed to warmer days with a significant drop in night temperatures you will find one will come in handy!

I'm still in jeans, t-shirt, fleece, socks and trainers at the moment while I've seen tourists in shorts - but that's the difference of living here and only coming to visit. We were in the low to mid 20's last week and now we're back to 18C. It's also warmer outside than inside during the daytime...

I would keep an eye on the weather and don't look anything past a 3 day forecast as beyond that merely seems to be guesswork. We see the weather updates change regularly if we look on a 5 or 7 day forecast.

Will keep fingers crossed it's okay for you!

It's our Easter celebrations this weekend but the weather is looking to be very mixed so let's hope it stays dry enough to get all that pork souvla cooked on the BBQ's.

Cheers
