TeeCee, that's great, thank you for re-assuring me :tup

Can you remember who you booked it with? I also want to stay in a Rush room, not sure what a Rush Leisure room is though.

I have now booked the Desert Rose for 4 nights, I hope it is the right choice, there are so many hotels at about the same price, just got to book the Golden nugget now and looking for the cheapest deal.

Thanks again x

Hi

Not sure if you have booked or not yet, but I stayed at Desert Rose last year and really didn't like it much. It gets good reviews, but there were a few things I really didn't like. If you haven't booked have a good think before booking this, if you have it won't be the end of the world, plenty of people seem to love the place.

I think I booked through the hotel directly. They were doing some really good deals and I paid about $75 for the Rush room. What you could do is book direct through the hotel now, so you 'know' you've got a room. But then when the offers come out, you can cancel the original booking with no penalty and book the new deal! Lots of us on here do that, you can usually cancel up to 48 hours before you travel if you book direct through the hotel.

Cheers,

TC

Hi all,

I have booked now but still on the look out just incase I find a better deal. Thanks again for all your help, I would have never have made my mind up without it.

Now looking at restuarant.com and see that you can now get $25 cert for $2 using the code MOTHER. However I am not sure which restuarants are good and worth buying these certs for, anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks again.

What type of food do you like and what is your budget per person?

Hi,

I am such a fussy eater to be honest unlike my husband but I do like Italian, Chinese and enjoy hamburgers etc. As for the budget, I have no idea how much food is in Vegas but I am not one to pay alot for food, apart from desert lol, I have a very sweet tooth!! ;)

Sorry, that's not much help is it but any suggestions would be good.

Thank you.

For Italian look at Casa di Amore. You can get a $25 cert off 2 entrees and you can see the menu and prices on their website.

If you book far enough in advance they will send a limo to pick you up and take you back.

You are too late for the Stripburger cert as the $25 off $35 sells out on the 1st of the month.

Another place for Italian which is not on r.com is Maggiano's at the Fashion Show Mall. Even their "small" portions would feed 3 people.

The MGM buffet is very good and close to the Desert Rose. It has great desserts even at breakfast time.

Thanks once again Luci, I will search both Italian restuarants you have suggested and I will look out for MGM's buffett, sounds the perfect place to me :tup

Thanks again for your help.

When I booked the flights I didn't realise there was so much more I had to sort out, I thought it was just the hotel, transfers etc but now I am finding myself searching places to go and see as well has eat. Oh well another day in front of the laptop :rofl Not that I am complaining, I love it really, keeps my mind active.

Thanks again Luci x

If you like Chinese then you can't got wrong at Panda Express for a cheap fast food meal. There is one in the food court at Showcase Mall just up from the MGM. There is also a Subway, Wendy's, Sbarro Orange Julius and a few more outlets. It is open 24 hours. We go there for a quick snack in the middle of the day.

PF Chang's inside Planet Hollywood is a good place for Chinese. They do a 4 course dinner for 2 people for $45 and drinks are cheap there compared to most places.

For Italian near Desert Rose, Il Fornaio at NYNY is really nice. We used to go there back when we started going to Vegas 11 years ago, and had stopped going for no reason the last few years - think we just got too fond of buffets! We went back last year though and really enjoyed their food.

Thank you once again for your suggestions, I have made a note of all off them. Not sure yet if to buy vouchers before we go or wait until we get there and see what offers are on.

How much roughly are the buffetts? they seem a good option for myself.

So many questions, sorry, just want to make sure I get it right, it might be the one and only time we get to go to Vegas.

Thank you once again.

HERE is a list of buffets and prices.

List any you are interested in for opinions as quality can vary widely.

Can recommend the MGM, Cosmopolitan, Aria, Bellagio and Harrah's. Would avoid the Imperial Palace, Flamingo and now the Spice Market at Planet Hollywood.

This is just my opinion of course, but Panda Express is the worst food in the world!! Horrendous isn't a good enough way to describe the awful slop they sell as food!! I honestly wouldn't eat there again if they were giving it away AND paying me $10 to do so! :really

On PF Changs, we ate there last year.....never again. Service was the worst we've had ANYWHERE in Vegas, in 13 visits. Food was incredibly poor. I ordered chicken in black bean sauce and it eventually came out in a light brown 'gravy' that had absolutely zero taste and was no more 'Chicken in black bean sauce' than a burger from Mcdonalds would have been!! Some of our other dishes were also completely tasteless. Certainly Changs was in the worst three chinese food places we have ever been to, in any country......Panda express being the very worst!! The best Chinese food we've had in Vegas so far was the restaurant in the Golden Nugget and that was just decent, not great.:D

The Spice Market Luci? We liked it when we were there in October. Has it gone right downhill since?

I have heard that Spice Market has gone downhill, but I haven't been recently so can't comment.

We've really enjoyed the Rio buffet lately, easily reached by shuttle buses from Bally's and Harrah's.

Yes the Spice Market. We haven't thought much of it for the past couple of years. There are far better buffets out there, but if you had only been to the Spice Market you might think it was good.

We usually go for breakfast as that is usually quite hard to mess up. The service this last time was atrocious. The server took forever to clear the plate and when she finally did, she didn't offer us refills on our coffee or drinks. Hubby complained as we left. It was dead at the time too with only another 5 or 6 tables occupied as we went in at 7am.

The Aria is OK, but not a patch on what it was. There was no smoked salmon and the only carved meats were ham and sausage. They used to have carved lamb and pork at breakfast.

Just remembered another place for Chinese, the Grand Wok at the MGM.

Yup, have eaten at the Grand Wok a couple of times, is ok, not great, not particularly cheap. Have also eaten at Chens? In NYNY, was absolutely awful as well! Oh, have also eaten in the Chinese in Monte Carlo and that wasn't very nice either, it's tough to find a good Chinese on the strip!! :D
