We are looking at booking these appartments for June 2009.

I have looked at the reviews in the Hotel Review pages and at present we are pleased with our choice. However, the last post was for August 2007 as anyone on here been since, it would be nice to get some up to date information.

OK, gone and done it. Booked these for June 2009 with Thomsons including free car parking for booking early at a fantastic £375 cheaper than Thomas Cook. :rofl

Now to get ready for this years holiday.

Have booked the Sa Marina for August next year. Could anyone tell me please if the entertainment on the evening is in or outdoors?

Thanks Shell :)
Have just re-read this thread from the beginning and found the answer to my question :cheers

Wonder if anyone can help me regarding the above !

Planning a holiday at the Sa Marina for my family - 2 adults and 2 kids aged 14 and 15. Can anyone advise if there are any daytime activities for them? Do many teenage children go there during the summer months, thinking of August, or is it mainly younger ones? Sorry for all the questions but if the kids are entertained during the day then we can just lounge around the pool and see to ourselves.

Many thanks.

Firstly, the review I put on here 2 years ago: Couple, late 50's self catering.

Sa Marina, (aparthotel)

Plus points: Lived up to its name and stars.

Large aparthotel complex in a nice location at the back of Cala D'Or resort, near to the large supermarket, but only 5 mins walk away from the main shopping and restaurant area and about 10 mins to either Cala D'Or and Cala Gran beaches. There are two supermarkets, Spa, within easy reach, the nearest being where you are dropped off outside the hotel main entrance, the other is towards town. There is also a very large one within 15 mins walk.

Two large pools, both included small children's paddling pools, lots of sun-beds, not so many shades, children's play area, Poolside Snack and Bar area, Entertainment area/stage, Gardens, Spa.

Pools are fairly large, freeform type, sun-beds, including shower area cleaned everyday.

Entertainment supplied everyday, the hotels entertainment staff had something on everyday to amuse the children, but this was mainly for the up to 8 yr olds. Not a lot for the over 8's. In the evening, 8:15 - 9pm was children's entertainment, again based around the up to 8 yr olds, singing, dancing etc and from 9:15 onwards was adult entertainment, either supplied by the entertainment staff or brought in, the Rod Stewart act was very good.

The Pool Snack bar supplies food from about 10 am - 4pm and drinks from 10 am - Midnight. They also cater for take away if you want to eat either by your sun-bed or on your balcony.

Three accommodation blocks;

Block one is the quietest, rooms overlooking a quiet swimming pool area but some rooms do overlook a main road. Block one also houses, reception, dining room, a small bar and the spa.

Block two is the noisiest, rooms overlooking the second swimming pool, snack bar and bar, entertainment area/stage. This block also has rooms overlooking a small garden area to the front and facing block one and blocks one swimming pool. Block two also has a children's club in the cellar and a small children's play area to the side.

Block three has all its rooms overlooking a gardened area, but higher rooms can also see the swimming pool area by block two.

Balconies very large, table and three chairs, wicker type, and a drying frame attached to the wall.

Rooms cleaned 5 times a week, not Tuesday and Friday.

Downside, if you have a lower floor room, people are constantly walking past, everyone can see in and if like us your room is on the lower floor and overlooks the pool by block two, there is constant noise all day, from the swimming pool and entertainment/stage area and also at night from 8:15 pm - 10:30:pm. It did spoil the holiday a little and we did try and get moved, but the hotel was fully occupied.

In response to Ali 5, I have stopped at Sa Marina for the last 3 years and booked to return this August. It is a lovely hotel that I would highly recommend.

As for entertainment for 14 - 15 year olds I think it mainly consists of football, pool competitions, table tennis and beach volleyball (which is done at the sister hotel - Esmeralda) - a 10 min walk away and water polo is held most afternoons in the noisier of the two pools. The main age group of children that are there are from 3 to 12 year olds. Not that it is full of kids, it is a nice range of ages - couples, old & young plus families. I think the Esmeralda has a bit more going on as per entertainment.

Also as you head into the first week of September you seem to have a lot of couples turn up with babies and small toddlers as the older children return to school.

Any questions just ask.

Thanks Peter D and hippyjak for your replies !!

Is it just the beach volleyball at the sister hotel and the other activities at the Marina? Had set my heart on this accommodation so am hoping someone with tee avers who've stayed their might advise !!!! Thanks again.

As far as I know it was beach volleyball and maybe football that is held at the sister hotel. My little ones only 7 so not too sure on the entertainment for the older children.

It is a lovely hotel I must admit.

Why don't you send them an email. The staff are lovely & can't normally do enough to help.

Here's their email address reservas@inturotel.com

Or you could always give them a call, switchboard always answers in Spanish, just ask to be put through to Sa Marina. Receptionists speak good English. +34 971 648 191

Just as a follow up -

I had a lovely reply from Sylvia at the above hotel who referred me to their website and under the heading of Family Holidays it states that they have a teenager club with organised activities. I dont expect it to be all day long but hopefully will occupy the 'active' son in some way haha !!!

Thanks for your replies and will no doubt be asking further questions in the future.

We have stayed at the Sa Marina two years in a row. My Son has made many friends at the Sa Marina, there seems to be a good mix of younger children and teenagers, it is a fantastic place and I don't think you'll be disappointed ali and I'm sure your Son will have plenty to occupy him. We had booked to go again this year but unfortunately we had to cancel due to circumstances. It would be a hard place to beat and we have met some lovely people at this hotel who return year after year.

Seriously thinking of booking here but a little bit disappointed that they dont do two bedroomed accommodation. That is the only drawback.
