If you're going shopping on the Costa del Sol, make sure you re-use your plastic shopping bags as the region of Andalucía has introduced a law placing a tax on the sale of plastic bags in shops and supermarkets with effect from 1st May.
The tax for 2011 is 5 cents per bag, but it goes up to 10 cents in 2012.
I wondered how long it would take for them to catch up with the UK..... Shops will have to declare the tax they have collected every quarter.
It is aimed at reducing pollution and protecting the environment....and if you believe that is the reason when you see all the fly tipping, dog poo and everything thrown into the bins........ you'll believe anything. :rofl
