Does anyone know where I can get decent suitcases at a resonable price?

Try TJ Hughes or TK Maxx both usually carry a reasonable selection may be worth holding out until the sales start I know some are starting this week. Also have a look at Argos

Try ebay. Also I recently went to an outlet centre and found a shop selling well known brands of bags and cases for about half the normal price. They were mostly last years models.

I've brought me and my 2 girls new suitcases this year :) .. Went in Primark to get a few bits and bobs and found the holdalls on wheels (I never knew they were so big and spacey :yikes ) £15!!!!!!!!!! everywhere else I've seen them £50, £60, £70 so I grabbed them whilst I was there. Lovely pink black and white flowers, there also very light so this was a great buy for me. Good luck suitcase hunting!

Happy hols :cheers

have to buy new cases for next trip.
Weight is obviousley a big factor in the choice. We have seen some that claim to be the lightest available but are between £50-60 each. These also look a bit flimsy as if they would tear easily. ( sub zero brand)
Plenty of cheaper versions at about £25 in either ordinary nylon/canvas type or hard shell .
Anyone got any advice on if the hard shell ones are liable to crack easily?
Matalan have some in the sale that look OK, but wife thinks that they may crack.
Not really looking for cases that will last forever, 3-4 seasons would satisfy me.

I have a hard shelled Carlton Case that is now 13 years old and still going strong, only problem is that most airlines only give you a 15 kg luggage allowance and my hard shelled case weighs just over 5 kg empty which is a large chunk of your allowance.
I also have a sub zero case which I love it has travelled well on my last two trips only damaged is an oil stain on the outside, it is extremely light only weights 2.4kg I think and still feels light when packed, really spacious.
Hope this helps Vickie

Ive got a huge pink number that I got in tj hughes 3 years ago it weighs around 5kgs without anything in it..safe to say we have 20kgs each so most of my stuff will go in my mums case ie toilitries etc..so i have plenty of room in mine to bring back fags, perfumes, new clothes and shoes..hahahaha

Just have to say that the Sub Zero brand suitcases may look flimsy but believe me, they stand up to rough handling as well (if not better) than other suitcases. They're ultra-light and really are so hard-wearing - they also come with a 10-year guarantee from the manufacturer.

just bumping this up again....... im looking for more reviews on sub zero cases..... im in two minds whether to get them or not.... would like a case for my 10 year old to pull by himself as dp and i will be bogged down with the other cases and 2 buggies..... thats why i thought of the sub zero for him as they are light. BUT on inspection they look and feel very flimsy.... so im not sure now.

Maybe one with 4 wheels will be best for him???

I saw the baggage handlers at fueteventura recently and witnessed them literally throwing the cases up into the air before they landed on the belt going up to the aircraft.... so id like durable cases..... lol.

Bev,I have just bought 2 Aerolite cases which only weigh 2.2kg.
We used them last month and they only weighted 13kgs when packed.
Mine are medium sized and have 4 wheels and are much more substantial than Sub zero cases.
They are AERO9930 Paris collection.
Sorry I dont have a web address so you can see them.

Bev the sub zero cases have a 10 year guarentee. I have used mine for 5 or 6 holidays now and they look as good as new. By the way Matalan have them on offer at the moment.

So are the sub zero cases sturdy enough to fill them right up with 20kg's of luggage?

Mine was last year at one point it weighed 27kg :yikes

Hope you had weighed it before you got to the airport, the excess weight would have cost most of your spending money !
