Hello, im new to the forums but have been using the site for quite a while now and found it very useful but unfortunately am still struggling to decide on a holiday destination.
We are a family of 5, we are both in our late 20's and the childeren are aged 10, 8 & 4. Last year we went to Alcudia in Majorca and stayed at the Alcudia pins hotel for two weeks. We enjoyed the holiday but found the hotel entertainement had declined from when i used to go there when i was younger so found we had to get a taxi into Alcudia town most night's. We didnt really find much in the way of entertainement in the town either as it was mainly resturaunts, shops and bars which didnt offer much for children in our age range. Luckily we found the Cheer's bar which had a mixture of entertainement for both adults and children and spent most of our evening there as the kids loved it.
So this year we have been searching on and off for the last 2 months and we are still as unsure as when we started. We have a budget of up to £2500 for flights and hotel and are looking to travel the end of July. Ideally we would be looking for somewhere with a nice beach, reasonable prices for food/drinks but most important part of our holiday would be somewhere with great evening entertainement for kids in and around the resort.
The perfect holiday for us would be spending days at hotel pool, beach, trips into town shopping, market and days out to waterpark etc and going out in the evening for meals, look around the shops and and then to enjoy a couple of drinks while keeping the kids happy at the same time.
Somewhere like Alcudia would have been great for us if only there was more in the evening to occupy the kids as we found ourselve's back in the hotel room by 10-11pm quite a few evenings which is not what we really go on holiday for and our 4 year old is lively enough to enjoy a few late nights on her holidays.
At the moment we are looking to travel to Marmaris in Turkey but keep hearing conflicting reports on the place so are still looking.
If anyone has any experiences/suggestions to help us decide we would really appreciate the advice.
Thank you.
http://www.waterworldwaterpark.com/main.html If you are looking for a hotel basic but nice I would recommend Tropical Dreams or Alva Apartments if you are looking for something a bit more elegant then Odessa hotel or Vrissianna is lovely. 10 minutes away in the resort of Agia Napa there is a mini market on a Wednesday (I think) or you could make a day of it and go to Larnaka market which is approx 45 minutes away (Hotels usually have tickets for coach/transport etc)
I hope this as helped a little, if you would like any more information please feel free to reply to me Good luck holiday hunting!

I think Cyprus would be a good place for you to go. The flight is only 4hr 30min and you can fly from mainly any UK airport. I would recommend Protaras as a resort, it has many shops, restaurants (Greek and English) etc and a variety of hotels on the beach. Within the reosrt of Protaras there is a mini water park (I would say more suitable for children than adults) or you could go to Agia Napa about 10 minutes away to an amazingly huge water park - Link for water park here -> I hope this as helped a little, if you would like any more information please feel free to reply to me Good luck holiday hunting!

I would suggest Portinax in Ibiza, the beaches are stunning, there are many family oriented hotels there too
We stayed in the Rising star, all boards are available, SC, HB & AI
Another bonus is that it is only 40 minutes drive from the airport, which is good after a long flihgt with the children.
Turkey is a very child friendly country too, the Turks love kids and will do anything for them.
