During your lovely holiday to Turkey you may be offered by your travel operator a thermal therapy departure day trip... sadly I didnt see any reviews before goin.
We booked a thermal therapy departure day with thomas cook for yesterday (I had to come on here quick and let people know the truth! we only got back to the UK this morning!) - £57.00 pp this included travel there /full use of facilities / lunch & dinner and transfer to airport which is 5 mins away and of course a room. Sounded perfect well yes it was too good to be true.
7:45 we were picked up from our beautiful hotel onto a nice aircon coach with a nice rep. all seemed good. THEN in a dirty lay by we were swapped onto a hot dirty smelly tour bus.
When we got to the Thermemaris it looked very nice. The sulphur smell was overpowering and I tried very hard to get used to it. I never did but this is not a bad point, its natural nothing they could do.
Our first room was z1 - disgusting. a dungeuon. A huge window that was covered in mesh and wouldn't close... Hardly safe was it?! The bathroom was filthy. yellow stains on all the bathtowels.. I never want to know what the stains were. The small fridge had brown mould and the floor was covered in brown spots? So we asked to be moved and were told to wait an hour, the man was very nice about it and got us an improved room. it was still very cramped and the bathroom was dirty by there were no broken windows.
FOOD - Well in the 16 hrs I was there I ate 3 slices of bread and 2 coffees. The restaurant was dirty. uncovered food and flies EVERYWHERE.I saw the chef pick some food off the side that had fallen and chuck it back in the bowl!!!
So i thought the best option was go to the mini market and get something sealed to eat, Well that was a joke. it had 3 things on the shelves and charged us 20TL for water and 2 ice creams.
Facilities- okay. no atmosphere no help or assistance unless u were dutch or german. I fell over on the grass the staff looked over but didnt even bat an eyelid. The chlorine swimming pools were mouldy and the sunbeds need a wash!
It looks like a run down ghost town. The turtles were the highlight. Beautiful view if you ca stop yourself heaving.
Room was boiling even with aircon and stank. The bathroom was horrid and u felt dirter once u had washed.
I think we were given dodgy rooms as we were just "one dayers".
It gets worst..... we were told to be at reception for 1am. we got there at 12:40am. 1:10am - nothing but a rude man saying "are you with diana travel? us:"yes" man: "bus gone, why didnt you get it? you should have got on it. you have missed it." WHICH he found SO funny. This was the final straw and I think the whole hotel was woken by my shouting. He was shrugging his rude shoulders saying it was our fault. eventually another car got called and we were collected 35 mins later with the man still talking about us to other members of staff, all but one laughing and shrugging. It turned out the bus driver had just picked up 4 others, knowing he was meant to get 6 and didnt bother coming to reception.
We are in the process of making a formal complaint to Thomas Cook and Diana travel. Don't let your last day be ruined like ours.
