Hello, the wife and I have decided on Egypt at the end of this month. We have always gone to apartments in other country's for the last 10 years, been thinking of Egypt for along time now but the AI has been putting us off. Had a long think today and we have decided to have a quiet holiday so maybe staying around a Hotel most days makes it more attractive to pay now as it's been costing us a small fortune for S/C holidays.
We are a 50's cpl not looking for Night Clubs though we like to stay out at bars till about 1am. We like to chill out on the beach. Not really into all the hassle of the markets. Now looking which company to book with and which resort to stay at ?
Probably got more questions as I go on but I'll try and have a read up, basically we want a nice clean place to stay and will not be disappointed with the food if we go all inclusive.
Thank you
Just the one question then really, how much per person should we be paying for 14 nights to Sharm all inclusive from Manchester from the 1st September 2011.
Can't find any good deals out there and been looking solid for 6hours now
I haven 't been the Egypt yet but have looked to go. Have you tried travelsupermarket? I stuck in your dates and airport and there seems to be some good prices. See what you fancy and then check the reviews and ask here about the hotels.
As a comparison we've been finding Cuba with 24 hour AI and nicer hotels on thomascook for £850-900 for the same dates or Mexico, also with 24 hour AI for about £1000,maybe not much help if you're set on Egypt of course but it's good to see how much you can get for your money elsewhere and compare, personal choice puts me in mind to go to Varadero in Cuba over Egypt for the 24 hour thing and better choice of drinks in the deal aswell as there being,in my mind anyway, more to see in closer proximity and the absence of gripes about stomach upsets, but the missus wants to go to Sharm
We always book hrough the high street tour operators for peace of mind, but may be worth checking out Travel Republic, On The Beach and Expedia.
If you don't want any hassle, I would avoid Naama Bay. If you are looking for a few bars/restaurants outside the all inclusive resorts I would reccommend Nabq Bay.
Regards,
Pat
Thank you Fiona, sambacasual and Pat
Thanks for the tips, so far I've shortlisted 7 Hotels and the main ones we are looking at right now is the Mexicana Sharm, Tiran Island Hotel, Xperience St George, all mixed reviews but that's like anything in life you can find fault with anything.
Just want somewhere for the food to be good and nice clean rooms and good views as we have decided for the first time to go AI so we will not have much money left over to eat out of the Hotel if it's poor.
Nabq sounds just up our Street. Easyjet seems the best bet so far as they give you the full result on their page like the Flights and Accomodation all included, where as other sites I have looked on return searches of prices for Flights and Accomodation seperate
I shall carry on reading up
It looks like I'm about to book the Tiran Island Hotel, easyjet are the best price so it seems
The weather will be roasting at that time of year. From April to October the weather ranges from 80s - over 100. Even when we go its 88 in November. Guessing i would say it will be high 90s, but the humidity will make it feel hotter.
I'm just booking the Tiran now as it's all doing me head in choosing between my finale 3 hotels lol. Searching google for pictures and trying to make our minds up.

I've mashed my head up the last 2 days looking, going for this now for less than £1500 AI for 2 weeks for 2 flying from Manchester
We just need tips now on were to go for a drink into Town best bar for football and how much we should pay taxi drivers
Just the little things really cos I think we will be staying in and around the Hotel and Beach most days
All booked up now, was really sad before as we had been looking forward to our annual jaunt to Icmeler but like I say Aegean went west, you never know we might enjoy Sharm better
Reet that's me for now, off to read some of you're tips derwentrocker about precautions for tummy upsets etc
Glad you have booked and sorted.
Any questions i will be glad to help, egypts my baby, although i dont mind sharing it with everyone else
Retired sonesta beach queen. Hoping Ghazala gardens will top it
Nice one, thanks very much Derwentrocker, I think I'll enquire at the Docs to if we need any jabs before we go on the 27th September
Ghazala read up and get's a good rating so hoefully you will enjoy
glad you are all fixed now. - especially after your Turkey holiday upset
Thank you for that Fiona x
Re: Injections - One thing worth mentioning is (God forbid) you should need any medical treatment when out there, your insurance may be invalidated if you do not have the injections ...... better to be safe than sorry!
Regards,
Pat
I will have more questions I think in the next few days if I can't find the answer through the search button, I shall make a list lol
Ohh before I forget, do I need to take long formal pants for evening meals or join the many and wear a shirt and shorts ?
Re: Dresscode - Depends what hotel you are going to. Some hotels allow smart 3/4 length shorts with short slevves shirts, others may impose the rule of long pants.
Regards,
Pat
Ok thank you for that, I've got the email address of the Hotel to find out for deffo if I need to take some with me
Thanks again
Your welcome.
