Paid our first visit to Paphos since 2003 this July and were quite disapponted to find there were virtually no traditional Cypriot resaurants around anymore but rather a proliferation of Italian and "international" cuisine places. But then We were lucky enough to discover Michael's Tavern - what a fantastic place. Having visited Cyprus a dozen times over the years, we realised we had discovered a real gem and so took advantage by eating at Michael's four times in 10 days! The food was consistantly excellent as was the service and we always received a warm welcome from the family. This is the best traditional(only?) tavern in Paphos and we preferred the quiet location to the hustle and bustle of the harbour area aswell. It's a bit out of the way as it's down a side turning after the Aloe hotel but is worth the(sweaty) effort of getting there. The ZA ZA and Jordan restaurants near it were pretty good as well.
