I was beginning to get withdrawal symptoms, with no break booked until next Easter. We saw a good offer, and have booked two nights next week here http://www.barcelo-hotels.co.uk/hotels/wales/barcelo-cardiff-angel-hotel

I used to fancy it years ago, when the Welsh rugby team used to stay there We called in for a drink last year before an international, and it looked very nice. It's also really central, so hubby can have a break from driving and we can catch the train.

I've spent to many evenings blagging my way in there after a rugby match.
Decent hotel in a great location, but I don't think they will ever finish the roadworks!
I can recommend Bar Cwtch in Cardiff Bay.

Nah think they're a pemanent fixture. It won't bother us as we won't be taking the car. With all the times we've been to Cardiff we still haven't made it down the bay - maybe this time
the Bay area is actually quite nice, one of the few "Millenium" projects that's impressed me, even more interesting for Dr Who/ Torchwood fans. Get the number 6 bendy bus from the city centre.
