hello any comments about smoking in kenya the other half smokes and is a bit worried
where she will be able to smoke or not as the case may be

Smoking is like in Europe. Outside you're fine, just not under cover in public places.

They allowed smoking in the restaurants at Voyager Beach - at least they never stopped the ignorant 
who did - we had one couple sitting next to us who chain smoked their way thru a meal one night!!!

We returned from SA on Tuesday and smoking was not allowed in any restaurants or hotels we visited, outside only.
Certainly NO smoking indoors at the Baobab Resort or any of the Safari lodges we were at 
Ask your hotel reception if you may smoke in your bedroom. If the answer is no, so be it. I confirm that you can smoke outdoors, but be discreet.
