Firstly welcome to the Forums. I am a regular visitor to Turkey (Marmaris) and have never visited Side but you will find lots of good posts about it on here. Many people are apprehensive about their first visit to Turkey (we were too) but many decide they don't want to go anywhere else after discovering what it has to offer. Don't worry about the food you will find plenty to eat including your 'Sunday Roast' at the week-end. I would advise you to use the search facility on this site, it's very good, just type in a key worde (Side ?) and you will instantly find lots of previous posts on that resort. Remember too you can check out your accomodation too.

Thank you for your reply. Many have told me how beautiful Turkey is, hence my booking, but it is good to share my worries and get positive replies. Glad you mentioned the food though!!
We were a bit apprehensive too,we went to Marmaris in 2009,Icmeler in 2010 and 2011 ad have booked to go twice this year. The scenery is spectacular, plenty of historical sites to visit, boat trips galore and all cheaper than most other countries.
Where have you booked this year?
We are going to Icmeler in May and Calis Beach in September. The first holiday is AI at Marmaris Park, its between Marmaris and Icmeler. There is no beach there just a paved promenade with sun loungers and parasols and steps into the sea.Fantastic scenery too.We stayed there in September. The second holiday is SC,we haven't been to Calis Beach before, much cheaper than the first, the apartment is less than £200 for the fortnight. We've not gone through a tour operator,a first time for us.
Welcome onboard
You'll not have any problems food wise in Turkey. Although hotels generally have a Turkish slant, there are still many international dishes so you should always find something to eat. Restaurants cater for pretty much anyone with a fully international menu. It's not all spicey foods. Thanks Darren, had this horrible thought it was all curries, garlic and drenched in oil!!
The beaches here are lovely and sandy and the old town is good to wander around.
I havent stayed in your hotel but stayed in one nearby and the food was varied and plenty of choice.
We first went in 2008 and have been back every year since, although we havent been to Side (maybe next year).
Im sure you will have a fab time and become Turkey addicts
Not sure if i have done that correctly or not, The hotels website looks fab.
Although I haven't been to Side, I'm sure there will be plenty of beach activities. Everywhere we have been in Turkey there has been. We have an apartment in Turunc, which is a small resort, but even though it's only small in the high season there are banana boats, ringos, jetskiing, fantastic boat trips with swimming off the boat, scuba diving all available in Turunc. A dolmus ride away in Marmaris there are water parks. Not forgetting white-water rafting near Dalaman and jeep safaris. Although not all these activities are available out of season some of them are. Side is a lot bigger, so I'm sure your son won't be bored. One thing we've always found about Turkey is that if you want to get out and about there is always plenty of opportunities to do so!
alfie, the apartment looks lovely, have even checked availability but fully booked for the week i want!!
Maybe next time.
Thanks for that, as you say maybe another time. Hope your mind has been set at rest now. I forgot to say that I'd agree with what others have said about food - there is such a choice that I'm sure you'll find plenty to eat that you'll enjoy.
Have a great holiday!

Cheers Darren will have a look about the forum today haven't had a good chance to spend the time but I'm sure will b sum good info!
I too will be a "Turkey Virgin".
We are a family of 4, kids age's 11 & 9. We have booked into the Sherwood Dreams resort near Belek.
I've been reading reviews and apart from the minority reports about teething problems last year (this was when the hotel opened) the worries I have are relating to the food (first time all inclusive) and also that the reviews mention there are a lot of Russians & Germans, these people are probably lovely but wandered if anyone knew if many British people holiday there.
We have usually holidayed in Majorca & Menorca so would love your reassurance.
We have booked to go to Colakli, near Side at the Alba Royal..looks a beautiful hotel!
Must say, quite looking forward to it!
I have been going to Turkey for about 15 years now - like many other people I was a bit apprehensive initially but immediately caught the Turkey 'bug' and have been returning every year since. Anybody worried about the food - don't be. I think the food in the cheaper All Inclusive's isn't up to much but out and about the food is great. If you go on a trip to the English coast it's usually difficult to get a decent meal at many cafe's. In Turkey the opposite applies - it's difficult to get a bad meal. The Turkish food is great so don't be afraid to try it. Not all kebabs come on a skewer or in a wrap. Many of them are like a casserole's and not spicy. If you are apprehensive about the Turkish food then eat English. The Turks cook English food better than many English cafe's.
