Hi everyone,
My hubby and I are off to New York in April for my 40th birthday, and are spending a week there, but at the end of the week we plan to visit friends who live near Boston (would be a shame to go all that way and not visit them!). Has anyone here taken the train between these cities? I've looked at the Amtrak website and prices seem quite reasonable, and it takes about 4 hours which we wouldn't mind as we can take in some scenery we've not seen before. Would anyone know what, if any, restrictions there are on luggage on the train? Is Penn Station easy enough to navigate so we can get on the right train to start with?! If for whatever reason we miss the train we plan to get can we get the next train using the same tickets (as you would here in the UK?) Does anyone have any other info/advice that may help? All info gratefully received as I'm stressing about making sure we get to her on time as we're flying home from Boston (three days later!!)
Many thanks in advance!
Caz
If things haven't changed - it's nearly 6 years - it will possibly be cheaper for you to purchase a 'tourist' ticket here (can't remember the correct name, but it was a ticket that was only available to non-Americans) Check the Amtrak website or if you have a friendly travel agent they maybe able to advise you if this ticket still exists!!
Luggage-wise, I seem to remember no major restrictions.
