Hi can anyone tell me if the little bar/cafe called Shady Nook at the end of the road near the Highland Beach is open? It's owned by Foxy's Steak Restaurant. It opened last year and they do the most amazing Steak sandwich!
Yes it's still open we decided it try it for lunch on New Years Day but it was full and we never did get back. It's on list to try next season

No, it's at the end of the road leading down to Highland Beach resort from the main road.
Sorry Katie, I'm confused. Do you mean on the land side of Fort Aguada Road? Kind of near Newtons & Johns Boat Tours
If you go up the road to the Highland Beach and pass the hotel on the right hand side and follow the road to a dead end, this is where Shady Nook is. It's only small but gets really busy!

Yes, same side of the road as Newtons.
If you walk down past Newtons in the Sinquerim direction - Newtons is on your left, you get to Bending Bamboos and Fisherman's Cove. Turn left and walk down the road where Fisherman's Cove is on the corner. This is the road leading to the Highland Beach Resort. Walk down towards the hotel, you will see the security hut on your right and then the reception block. Keep walking down past the hotel to the end of the road and you will see it.

I found the steak sandwich really tough - I prefer getting a dosa delivered poolside at the Highland.
That surprises me especially since its owned by Foxy's restaurant who are well know for their steaks. Hopefully, it was just an off day!

Yes there is. A few yards to your right as you are facing Shady Nook. They supply the shop called Chic, near Super Emporium. When I went to buy a bag for a friend that was the same as a bag I bought last season, they sent someone back to the shop to retrieve it.
Heard loads of good things about the bag place so decided to have a look, bought two really nice bags and decided to use the larger one as a flight bag on the way home and got as far as Mumbai when the strap started coming away from the bag, it's really soft leather and is now unusable . I did have it rather full but not to capacity and its wasn't heavy stuff, I will have to see how the other bag goes before I decide if to buy again from there. I can't be 100% that I didn't get it caught on something though I would have thought I would have felt it.
We found shady nook and can honestly say its brill,we found the staff brill helpful nothing to much trouble,tried the steak sandwich for lunch and i was still full at 8 that night i'd half it with O/H next time.looking forward to nov to try it all over again..
and the sign says Shaddy Nook,typical Goan spelling
