Stayed at the Bonapart, albeit a few years ago. Rooms kept very clean. Waiters constantly round the pool asking if you wanted a drink etc, on another site i noted this got on people's nerves but it was nice not to have to keep getting up to get your own water.Mixture of nationalities. Food was lovely. Enjoyed the Turkish night. If Gino is still there he makes a fantastic chateaubriand, for 2 to share. Cooked at the table.Loved our stay there.

Alaiye Aparthotel. Alanya. Has anyone been to these apartments recently......last I can find was in 2005 and had quite a good review.

Have just booked 30 October, taking daughter, 23, and her boyfriend and 15yo daughter. Is there any places which would appeal to all of us for entertainment.

I am so looking forward to this. :D Took 15yo to Icemeler last year and wanted to go back there but dates wouldnt fit. Also shopping. Is there a good or bad area and is there a market. Any recommendations for Turkish bath too.

Thanks in advance for any replies and tips. We are flying from Manchester. :D

hi alison..the apartments dont get as good reviews as the hotel..but the location isgreat..you are five minutes from the Damlataş beach..tennis/badminton/fottball courts..and a nice little park
you are also in an area where there are lots of places to eat shop etc.
However the best places are in the harbour..albeit more expensive.
Discos and bars are fun for everybody..all age groups.
Alanya is much much bigger than İcemeler..but easy to get around..use the little town buses they stop outside the hotel.
there are markets everyday in some part of town..but the main markets are on friday..there is a huge market in the town centre..but this is mainly produce..the othe main market on a friday id about 10 minutes walk from the Alaiye..tyhat one has the usual tourist stuff for sale..as well as produce.
you must go for a trip to the Dim cay river..dont miss it...its paradise.
enjoy and lets know what you thought about the place when you get back

Hi Shirleyann

Thank you for that great info. It has set my mind at ease. The apts cant be too bad  if we are just using them as a base and its only for a week. I tried to book the hotel, but couldnt get it.

We will be sure to try Dim Cay river. and the harbour. I am so excited about going, you'd think I was the kid!! Only about 6 weeks to go. Have got to start the diet now.

Thanks again for your great reply and will let you know how we get on.

One more quick question. Is it best to take sterling or euros to Alanya. Last year in Icemeler we took sterling and had no problems.

So looking forward to going, especially when I look out and see the rain here, lol.

Thanks, Alison
