Hi shirleyanntr!!

It's just me and my Mum coming over, we're just gonna shop, sightsee and have dinner/drinks each night :P
It's her first time to go to Turkey and she's been wanting to go over for years.
We're not looking for mad party nights or anything, so I think it sounds perfect

if you like to shop then you will love Alanya. you can also party every night if you want to. but there are some great places to visit on the loads of tours on offer. dont take the tours the reps push as you can get the same tours all over the place for half the price.
and dont buy anything on your first days here...wait and have a look around and compare prices...and haggle.

Its a good part of Turkey for your mother to see first.. Kusadasi wouldnt be the best place to first go to turkey i found a lot of the waiters very ignorant and had irish accents pefected and just took the P*** outta people a lot.. Not me though i was young when i was there.

hiya guidemustafa could you tell me if the aytur eftalia hotel or the kahyer hotel are in a good position in the resort, these 2 hotels seem good value with thomas cook
Reply
hey..i live in Alanya and there are two aytur eftalia hotels..same company...but one is a new resort hotel in Konaklı..and the other is in Town...so thats the best choice
also the Kaya hotel is in Oba about 3 kilometres from teh centre but again in a good place..both hotels are opposite the beach.
Alanya is a big town much bigger than Marmaris..and international..you wont feel swamped by brits..theres room for everybody.
Although you will hear people say theres more germans here thats not really true..there are lots of everybody  which adds to a great atmosphere.
April is a bit out of season and it can be chilly...like it is today..not cold but..the weather is variable as it is in all resorts until the end of May ..then you can guarantee the sun.
As for restaurants there are hundreds..theres a great harbour with lively night life...and great shopping...alanya is super.

Hi!

Has anyone been to this nightclub? From what I've heard it
opens at 3 AM when all the other clubs closes.
I'd really like to hear what people think about the place.
We're going to Alanya August 9th, first timers.

There are two clubs that are open till early morning. The one you have probably heard of is The Auditorium. A bus picks you up from outside Bellman/James Dean and takes you there as it is about 15 minutes from Centrum. You do have to pay to get in, but I have had some great nights/mornings there. There is a swimming pool too!!! A bus will also take you home.

The other one is Summer Gardens which is in Konakli. Not sure if there are any free buses, but you can get a taxi there fairly cheap. That too is about 15 minutes from Centrum. Not quite as bit as Auditorium but impressive all the same!!!

Have fun!! :D

Hi All,
Just returned from Sunny Beach in Bulgaria and hated it (too big, too busy), previous four years we have been to Turkey and loved it (twice in Icemeler, and twice in Hisaronu). We are considering going back to Turkey in 2007, and a friend has suggested Alanya.
Is there an Alanya 'experts' out there who can advise if it would be suitable
Here is our party profile;
3 Families each with a teenager.
Teenagers will be 14, 16, & 17, not quite old enough to let go off on there own at night, but want some freedom from adults, but we need to feel they are safe (within eye sight)
We like to go self catering, and eat out most nights, willing to try all cuisines from sunday roasts to traditional turkish food.
Like to be within 5-10mins walk from main centre, but not on top of night life.
Prefer lazy days around a pool rather than on a beach.
Can anyone advise if Alanya would be suitable, if not suggest another resort (not Mamaris, too busy).
If Alanya is suitable, suggest some apartments in the right area, and can we book idependently or which tour operator uses the apartments.
Any advice would be appreciated,
thanks,
The Dog

Alanya is a lovely place - have been there about 8 times but it is a very big place, probably bigger than Marmaris I think. The harbour as in all resorts is more expensive than the rest of the resort. If you like more traditional places then just go one street behind the main tourist road. Plenty of places to go from there. If you have the time Capadoccia is a must.

Hi just been reading this post, and like "the dog" was also thinking of trying Alanya this year, can anyone reccomend some self catering apartments.People say it's not as busy as Marmaris but surely it's not that quiet in August.Would you say Side is more livelier for teenagers. Thanks for any information. Maggie

Ergun apartment's /Kardelen both my lads have stayed in both. You could also look on hotel reviews.Their's also a member on here who live's in alanya shirleyanntr who may be able to help you think you will be better of going to alanya rather than side more for teens their. :D

alanya caters for everybody and its big enough never to get the feeling of being overcrowded.
the harbour area is where the most hectic night life is..and it is hectic in july/august..but ive never seen any trouble there.
İts bigger than Side and Marmaris..
if you see Avsallar-konaklı-oba tosmur mahmutlar..these are all resorts sold as 'alanya' by tour agents but they are outside.
Oba is nice for familes..five/ten minutes from Alanya by bus
Tosmur is next door but quieter..mostly foreigners who have bought apartments..except for few hotels ..Grand kaptan hotel Bora Bora. etc.
if anyone wants an opinion of a place give me some names and i will give my opinion.

Hi Thank you both for your replys, to be honest there doesn't seem to be a lot of choice in the brochures i've got at hand, only one in the T Cook Alaiye hotel & apartments, and we would prefer to self cater as that's part of the holiday finding somewhere nice to eat each night. Also F/Choice has Bonepart apartments, if you can comment on any of these or give me names of some other ones i'd be grateful.
Shirleyanntr could you tell me how far from Mersin is Alanya my daughter is going there this Sunday, and also how warm is it at the moment, Many thanks Maggiemae
