went to see this movie tonight, so brilliant, vividly portrays India ,,,, we loved it...and made me just want to be there again, not neccesarily Goa, but the rest of India which we love ...makes you realise what an awesome place it is ..
chilly
Agree Chilly!! -it was brilliant , we went to see it last week, loved the saying about it "being all right in the end" two weeks and counting till we go, and cannot wait - Kingfisher Airlines permitting of course!!!!
We are definitely going to see it
I'd heard such good comments about this film and went to see it a couple of days ago. Yes, there's great photography and a flavour (with too much sugar?) of India but the plot is laughably poor and predictable.
Passed a couple of hours but I wouldn't rave about it!!
its you Roma .......... no seriously, i know where you are coming from in one way re the actual plot! but i just loved it, yes i guess in reality the plot is a bit unbelievable ........ and i did wonder if non India lovers would be as impressed as we were....but the whole atmosphere etc is so real and it really captures India and peoples reactions to it... i giggled all the way through the beginning... plus the cast is amazing and the acting second to none..
Havent seen the film yet but loved the book, could easily imagine retiring to such a place - if only
I saw the film on Friday with a friend and we both loved every minute of it, although neither of us have ever been to India. Great cast. fantastically atmospheric and a real warmth about it.
It starts showing next week here, can't wait to see it , but sadly the dialog will be in German , and much is lost in the translation but I'm sure the sights ,sounds and smells of India will still be there
OMG!!! Went to see the film today!!! I cried all the way through, seeing the scenery and hearing the bird sounds!!! Wanted to be back there!!! Sooo funny and sad at the same time!!! LOVED it!!!!
We loved it too, it must be a girly thing. The actors were brilliant and it was India all over. Loved the 'alright in the end' saying too, have used it loads since hearing it. We are flying to Delhi two weeks tomorrow and travelling around for 16 days and Jaipur is one of the places we visit so had a great taster. Can't wait to get there now.
We have all been there an rode the wave. Those who make the other side of the wave post here those that don't go to Benidorm.
I too must be going soft. I wiped the odd tear away.
Steve
I've seen the ad, but unfortunately have never made it to Goa, as we both work in a school, and holiday times aren't favourable. Seeing as we haven't been there, will we like this film, or is it really for regular India goers?
Having said that, as you can see from previous comments, a lot of Goa regulars obviouslt love the film so what do I know? Guess it's just me!
thanks Roma - I'm not a film buff either, so all doesn't bode well
Those who visit India will see things in the film that remind them about being there.
Both Jayne and I we both came away wishing we were there.
If you have see films like slumdog and even West is West and appreciate the facts about Indian life in the screenplay you will come away with a better understanding about the different cultures. But I am sure you understand this better than most being a teacher.
This film is a good distraction. Nice in its own way but no Oscar winner.
It is said that Goa is India for beginners and one of our best holidays was during last Easter.
If you get two weeks off at Easter you could easily go and see a bit of India and get hooked
