Hi Everyone, I was just looking for a bit of reassurance and a bit of advice really!
My family been coming to Los Dolses staying at the same villa now for the past four years, theres a big group of us and we have always really enjoyed it and felt very safe. Last visit our villa ( which grilles, shutters etc) was broken into and the hire care taken. Well when I say broken into, they jimmied up the shutter forced open the window and 'hooked' the keys off the breakfast bar. Now since i've come back isn't everyone full of "oh that happens all the time" .....does it? I'd always felt incredibly safe before, walking back at night etc. My daughter is five and keeps asking if they bad men are coming back to take the car again. I think im going to be a nervous wreck by the time we arrive in June!
Is this common? is the area pretty safe? it certainly seemed so. Maybe we were wrapped up in that holiday bubble! what should we be looking out for? Thanks in advance!
Your brave going back to the same place (That is what you are saying? Correct me if Im wrong?). I think if I'd have been broken into- I wouldn't even think of going back.- especially if i had a child who was worried- about it happening again.
Yes same villa. Various family have been going for years (owned by a family member of a family member if you see what I mean) We have been going with my family and my Mum etc for the past four years. Never had any trouble before, last year was a total shock and I am debating what to do here. My Mum booked it and it was kind of 'thrown upon us'
I just wondered if any one else had had a similar experience in this area? does lightening strike twice? Other family members have been increduluous that it happened "well itnever happened to us"...yes Uncle Roger very useful! (makes me wonder if we did something wrong) but if you ask other people about the area and i've heard is "oh yes crime is rife, bags snatched etc etc " and I'm wondering if we went to the same place!
My friend has me scared to death with a story about them purposley hitting the back of your car so you get out, for them to steal it!
I'd (obviously) never put my daughter in any danger of any sort. So if I hear that this is common to the area i'll be going elsewhere.
hi- I was just giving my honest opinion- and reading back it could have come across a bit negative- it wasn't my intention-and I'm sorry if it did. I'm sure the chances of it happening again are virtually zero- but you are going to be wary- its only natural, I have been to benidorm quite a few times- but dont know where the villa you are staying is located- Im sure other members could help regarding this.
oh bless you thanks for that don't worry it was honest which is what I wanted! X
What I'm saying is the chances are slim, you were unlucky that's all. Don't let it put you off returning but just be aware that the economic situation here is pretty dire and some people are desparate. Take all the precautions that you would at home and be vigilant.
Your so lucky living there its lovely so many friendly people.
I wouldn't let what happened put me off!
bad things can happen anywhere.
You hear stories about pickpockets, muggers, robberies
from virtually anywhere!
you only tend to hear about the few bad experiences though!
I'd go and enjoy yourself
