Your brave going back to the same place (That is what you are saying? Correct me if Im wrong?). I think if I'd have been broken into- I wouldn't even think of going back.- especially if i had a child who was worried- about it happening again.

Oh dear wasn't exactly what I was looking for but thanks none the less for the reply!
Yes same villa. Various family have been going for years (owned by a family member of a family member if you see what I mean) We have been going with my family and my Mum etc for the past four years. Never had any trouble before, last year was a total shock and I am debating what to do here. My Mum booked it and it was kind of 'thrown upon us'
I just wondered if any one else had had a similar experience in this area? does lightening strike twice? Other family members have been increduluous that it happened "well itnever happened to us"...yes Uncle Roger very useful! (makes me wonder if we did something wrong) but if you ask other people about the area and i've heard is "oh yes crime is rife, bags snatched etc etc " and I'm wondering if we went to the same place!
My friend has me scared to death with a story about them purposley hitting the back of your car so you get out, for them to steal it!
I'd (obviously) never put my daughter in any danger of any sort. So if I hear that this is common to the area i'll be going elsewhere.

hi- I was just giving my honest opinion- and reading back it could have come across a bit negative- it wasn't my intention-and I'm sorry if it did. I'm sure the chances of it happening again are virtually zero- but you are going to be wary- its only natural, I have been to benidorm quite a few times- but dont know where the villa you are staying is located- Im sure other members could help regarding this.

I've lived here for 7 years and owned property here for 12 years. Never had a problem but I know of people who have been burgled. It was the same in the UK, lived there for 40 years never burgled but I knew people who had been.

What I'm saying is the chances are slim, you were unlucky that's all. Don't let it put you off returning but just be aware that the economic situation here is pretty dire and some people are desparate. Take all the precautions that you would at home and be vigilant.

Thankyou very much for that, its put it in perspective. I was really hoping to hear from someone from the area. We really like it there and we have put it down to us being unlucky. Going to try and put it to the back of our minds but be extra vigilent/careful this time around. Keeping things locked away etc. Its very easy to slip into your 'holiday head' and leave towels, beach bags etc outside which we are warned is a bit of a no-no.
Your so lucky living there its lovely so many friendly people.

I've been to villamartin but never actually stayed there.
I wouldn't let what happened put me off!
bad things can happen anywhere.
You hear stories about pickpockets, muggers, robberies
from virtually anywhere!
you only tend to hear about the few bad experiences though!

I'd go and enjoy yourself
