I'm considering Thailand for the early part of next year, so just starting my research - and what better place to start!
So here goes: two adults travelling, husband dives, would like somewhere that is possibly off the main tourist path, but with places to visit, good beaches, would happily consider somewhere 'child free' (please don't shoot me down for that).
We are quite easy to please and open to suggestions. Maybe a two centre vacation.
Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.
If you're thinking of going earlier in the year, then the Andaman coastline may be your best bet weatherwise. That means the like of Phuket (numerous resort areas from the very busy to the very quiet), Krabi, Khao Lak, Koh Lanta. All these places would offer diving options - Khao Lak for example offers access to the Similan Isles. All these places mentioned will offer quieter resorts, but you'll have to do some homework to visit the one best for you. Luckliy theres lots of info and photos to be found on the web.
Thailand is easy to get round, so ideal for a multi centre holiday. Bangkok is the obvious choice, but there are various other options you can do. We particularly like Northern Thailand. Chaing-Mai is a very interesting city, with lots to do both in the city and in the surrounding countyside. Or further north to such areas as the Goden Triangle and Chaing Rai. Worth hitting the library for a guide book to see what appeals to you.
Thanks Sunbear, appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.
