Enjoyed five days in Venice earlier this month and I have to say, it surprised me in many ways!
Walk down alleyways that seem to lead nowhere as they all lead somewhere!!
It's not quite as expensive as I had heard.....it can be if you want it to be.
House wine is much much cheaper than bottled.
The amount of Graffiti is unbelievable......even the Rialto Bridge is covered!!
Vaporetto's are quite easy to use.
Traghetto's are the cheapest Gondola ride in Venice....1/2 Euro per person.
People watching is amazing!
Don't waste you money on the organised Island Tour, use the Vaporetto.
Murano is a lovely Island where you can buy glass.
Burano is beautiful and well worth the trip to get to it and you can buy lace
Didn't like Lido, nothing there!

Enjoy.
Been years since I went to Venice so appreciate your lovely photo's. Brought back some happy memories
I haven't been for a few years either but agree with everything you said. We'll be popping back there in September after a few days sitting on cold, hard, stone seats at the Verona Opera festival and I am really looking forward to it.
Beautiful Photos Iain ,Its one place I have always wanted to visit.
Wow still loads of people looking at my photos of Venice.......thanks
