My friend went on his stag week end to Rome on Friday they had a nine hour delay going out and missed 1st night in hotel ,then on return flight on Sunday a 22hr delay . They were given a letter from Monarch offering them £ 100.00 compensation . What is their best course of action ???
Thanks for any help
There's information here which may be of help:-
A lot will depend on the reasons for the delay - some will entitle them to compensation and others will not - and what Monarch provided them with during the delay. So a bit more information will help members provide more specific advice.
The actual compensation as laid down in the EU regs is still in abeyance awaiting a ECJ ruling, which is expected later this year.
There is nothing to stop you asking for it though, depending on the cause of the delay. If they refuse, and you want to take it to court, there will be no hearings until the ECJ rule. If they rule that the delay compensation is fair then the courts will start to hear cases again, but there will a backlog.
