I actually went in a Travel Agents yesterday but only because I was on my lunch break and bored! It felt very odd leafing through the brochures but did get me in a holiday mood!
I have to say that the best deal can actually be from a travel agent. We just have more avenues to explore these days
I don't remember ever being able to smoke on a plane! Must be my age . I do remember being on my dads passport as a child and when we got our visa stamped at an Indian airport they wrote in ink +1f+1m child.
I can remember going on a Dan Air flight or Dan Dare as they became known and sitting in a seat that had totally collapsed with my bum only inches from the floor - the same flight where we were putting green paper towels in the gaps in the roof of the cabin to stop the water (condensation) dripping all over us - and I seem to remember having a table at the back of the plane were the four of us sat around and the days when you could enjoy a ciggie.
the only saving grace was you could have a ciggie
i remember also coming back from cyprus and the check in was manic and so hardly any of the smokers got to sit in the smoking seats. there was a little plastic runner above our heads which marked the smoking/no smoking seats and i moved it forward a row so i could get a ciggie. those on the opposite seats, and those in front saw what i had done and they followed suit. by the time the flight attendant got to us with the drinks trolley the sign had been moved forward about 12 rows and everyone was smoking. fortunately for us she twigged that it would be less hassle to let us carry on and so we had a very good flight home.
Sanji, Jim after reading your stories I just had to check Dan-Air out, and found the following-
That brings back memories Glynis.
The huge, collective sharp intake of breath when a WOMAN co-pilot appeared from the cabin complete with Afro !!!! That flight is also memorable for two reasons - 1. My brother and I were travelling with our OHs - we desperately wanted to go up to the flight deck ...but the girls were invited and actually saw Mt.Teide rising from the clouds!!
and 2. We landed back at Luton in shorts - then had to dig my car out of a snow drift!!!!

That sounds about right
They are still on every flight , shorts and a tea shirt and looking forward to Bristol airport in November minus 8 degrees at midnight and then moan when the bus to take you to get your car takes its usual 25 minutes to pick them up.
