Hi, We have never been to cyprus but are considering going on a late booking, all inclusive.
We need somewhere that has a place i can sit out of the sun (as i have vitilligo) and i like somewhere laid back with no night clubs. I have been told Cyprus is too expensive to go room only is this right?
I look forward to your replies.
depending on what flights you can get... flights to Pafos i would suggest [if you dont want to do the tourist bit]
Coral Bay or Lakki [some say Latchi]
if flights to Lanaca then either the outskirts of Lanaca or Permera bay

We had lunch last week at Captains's Bay on the beach - a bit more expensive than we would pay in Limassol/Kolossi/Erimi at a cost of around 24 EUR for 2 main meals and a large bottle of water but the service and the food was superb.
It all depends what you want from your holiday but Olympic have a very nice unit called Hylatio which is half way between Pissouri village (at the top of the hill) and Pissour bay/beach at the bottom. It's a S/C unit but you may be able to upgrade to B+B or HB.
We have eaten there a few years ago and the evening meal we had was nice. There is a supermarket Papantonios out on the main Paphos/Limassol road (the B6) where you can do a "shop" at a better price than the local village shops.
We were first time visitors a couple of years ago(Aug), my recommendations to others from that experience is sea front location, air cond in all areas an absolute must and AI if you can afford it as we found even the supermarkets were expensive.
Cyprus was lovely and I would certainly go back but I would have to pay a bit more to tick all the boxes and I certainly can't afford to do that in the near future so am sticking to value for money Spain ATM.
We go to the Pernera area of Protaras, you have a few very good restaurants and some really nice pubs with entertainment if you so wish. Pernera isnt in your face, and you can sleep well at night. We have always gone half board, but to be honest we are going in a villa next year, so like you will be self catering. If you want to cook yourself then yes it is very expensive, but eating out isnt.
Cyprus is a beautiful place to visit, laid back, you can do want you want, chill or throw in a odd trip.
Good luck x
By the way the temps are in the 90s from June through to Beginning of September, middle of sept - October in the 80s. Humidity high now until september.
Overnight temperatures rarely fall below 25C to 28C and although daytime temps are displayed as between 32C to 35C the "real feel" is 38C to 41C because of the high humidity.
It's like a pan boiling with the lid on - not a lot of heat is escaping because of the wetness from the humidity acting as the "lid"
If you can avoid mid July to end of August, I would do!
We've been here from 8 and a half years now and this is the sweatiest we've had for a while. Usually it lasts around 6 weeks but we've been like this since almost the start of July with temperatures around 3C above our usual summer average.
Stayed in Paphos many times, at Athena Beach who are now doing AI, as well as B&B, HB. Good beachfront setting, with breeze cooling the high temperatures. Usually go for 2 weeks in September and yes, it has even rained usually during night. Weather did my psoriasis the world of good! Yes, it is expensive when compared with other places but restaurants are usually a good standard and most now offer fixed price menu. Due to economic climate, some have closed down (Rendevouz Greek taverna, also Thalassa fish taverna, great shame). Avoid the harbour ones, good for a drink but food quality can be poor. Plenty of bars, cafes close to Athena Beach if you want burger&chips type food, although beer and coffee good standard.
just come back from Majorca and it was more expensive than cyprus, and i was in Penera 6 weeks ago
