I would give them the same credit as those of other reviewers, it would just add to the mix, then I would make a decision, whether it would be the right one, who knows. :que

i would certainly read a review by an independant TA.
everyone has different views and standards of what they require on holiday, and what is important for one person is irrelevant to another.
if the review, by anyone, contains facts like there is an iron/kettle in the room it gives me a better conception of the hotel;whereas a comment along the lines of the receptionist was a miserable cow who did not speak english gives me an insight to the reviewer and i will treat both reviews differently.
if it is the intention to have "guest" reviews from independant TAs then i am all in favour, as i think the more information we can get on a hotel or resort is to be welcomed.

my problem here was that the question mentioned "trust" and Travel Agent in the same sentence :que

I would trust them as much as other review places. I know that HT doesn't allow reviews posted from the country of the hotel( with UK being different of course) but its obvious in other sites that some are written either by the hotel or by their rival. So I tend to just see what the bulk of the reviews say. As Jim says, folks have different expectations- and some are ridiculous for the money they pay! Love your final comment Jim :rofl

Sorry guys, but I've had to laugh here because today I read a resort guide from someone ( better not mention the name) who reckon they provide impartial information on destinations in 220 countries!

I sometimes have to ask myself if I go to the same place or are there two places with the same name in the same area, because I've never read so much out -of- date and inaccurate tripe in all my life, which is supposed to be written by local 'experts'

So, I clicked on their facebook page and told them it was out-of-date and tripe.!
Luckily (or maybe not) I'd voted in here before I read the tripe. :rofl

“Independent Agents” is an oxymoron. Their business is selling holidays so any such review can only be viewed with suspicion. Such reviews can only reflect and promote the holidays they as agents wish to sell. I work several days each month with various companies and organisations advising on marketing policy. The rule is always to promote the positives never the negatives

We are all very much aware that certain well known travel sites have been exposed as being far from independent and truthful.

HT has until now always had a very well-deserved reputation for independent, truthful and honest reviews. The moderating team in the past were always very on the ball at weeding out anything suspicious. Something I am sure that made it such a desirable acquisition for Chris/Phil.

The truth of the independence of HT must surely be called into question if such reviews are allowed.
