Jessie, heed the advice given and don't take TCs, instead, take sterling. Buy £100 worth of Turkish Lira to get you started before you leave UK and then either look at the Olu Deniz topics close by or ask your fellow holidaymakers where the best exchange is. We've not taken TCs for a great many years.

I would agree not to both with travellers cheques in Oul Deniz. Its a few years since but we managed very well using ATM's - although I guess this will not guarantee you the best exchange rates.

I was in Antalya over Christmas and I could not find any banks (even HSBC) which would cash TC's. My advice take cash.

Well i took travellers cheques afterall when I visited Olu Deniz in September and had absolutely no trouble whatsoever in changing them!!!

That is really interesting as I stood behind some people in a bank who were moaning at the very high rate of commission they were being charged for them. Were you charged commission?
