On a road walking down to the beach isnt very helpfull.

The Sax Bar is good for live Rock music you should also try the Bulls Head which has a great live rock band called the Vagabonds, it's on the strip behind the Safari centre.

Seen Jimmy James many years ago in a club in Torquay, gives away my age a bit, nah not the same band but a group of lads mainly from Bulgaria who have a superb guitarist and play a lot of great rock covers, well worth seeing.
