Hi all
I need help regarding accommodation for 2 weeks in January......
My wife and i have just booked our flights....been intouch with "our" hotel...Ticlo in Calangute and he has told us they are fully booked from December to March......
But he said try going on various holiday sites, they may have some rooms at the Ticlo available....
Ive tried Trivago and Hotelbeds....they do have availability but at nearly 3 times which i usually pay
We have been going to the Ticlo 2 and 3 times a year each year since Easter 2000.....we do get a good discount...but im wondering if they dont want to give me the discount anymore, so he has said they are fully booked
We only want a cheap and cheerful hotel or better still an apartment...as long as its clean...
Please someone help as we need our "Goan" fix...
Many many thanks....Neil
Please PM me with info...
This may be an explanation, but won't suggest it is correct...
There are increasing numbers of Russians coming to Goa, and if recent reports are to be believed, they are now overtaking the number of British visitors.
It has been reported that some hotels are now offering their rooms to Russian tourist agencies who are prepared to pay a higher price for their rooms.
So there now seems to be a situation where we have to contact hotels/guesthouses directly if we want to get bookings at the best rates. It is certainly possible.
I've managed to book a guesthouse in Benaulim for Rs500 per night for the Xmas period, so reasonable rates are definitely available if you are prepared to hunt online and contact the hotels/guesthouses directly.
Of course, you have to make bookings as early as possible.
i understand what you are saying about the Russians "taking over" and the hotel manager has informed us that their rooms are all contracted to travel firms....
but like always, we have contacted the hotel directly regarding availability.
Why is it so awkward booking your holidays to Goa.....
jamu_99@hotmail.com this is jasmines email she lives in the big house next door to lemon tree and rents loads of places out
We go to Cavalossim which is a very nice but fairly a quiet resort. plenty of restraunts and shops, but none of the hum drum of Calangute/Baga etc.
we stay at "Jose Holiday Homes". fairly cheap but very nice a friendly. great staff who keep the place nice and clean.
might be worth a look for you.

Ive had a look online at Kyle Gardens and Kieran Park, can anyone let me know if they can recommend anything else?
If you do want Calangute though, you could try Castle House Hotel, and Cary's Hotel is near the Ticlo on the baga Road.
possibly he misunderstood and thought that we were looking for accomodation there and then.
AFAIK they only have 4 rooms
just had a quick look at gabriels and had to smile at "important room conditions"
noggin, you have PM
Lol del1949. You have to laugh. Without sounding too patronising I hope, I have to say I love some of their old fashioned English expressions too. I always have a chuckle when I read the newspapers there. Some of the terminology of the journo's crack me up.
