http://www.amalfi-restaurant.co.uk/ ..and reasonably priced too! Easy walking distance from Covent Garden (although I suppose if you know the area LOL) There is also a large seating area downstairs too. It's been in Soho for over 50 years - and spent many a lunch hour (or three ) there. We still use it when we're in London as easily accessible nipping through the back streets from Oxford Street.
Hilary - Amalfi in Old Compton Street is very good.
Thanks ladies. They are going to the Theatre Royal in Haymarket to see One Man, Two Guvnors. Ms hbrac asks if you know any restaurants near the theatre? They would rather eat nearby than have to rush from Covent Garden. They received a 50% off pre show meal flyer for Rowley's on Jermyn St.with the tickets but if it's an expensive restaurant to start off with then that wouldn't be suitable as they are both students. It's been such a long time that I have been away from London that I am out of touch with the area.
