Hi everyone
This is my first post so I apologise if I've put it in the wrong place.
I've recently got back from centerparcs. There were 8 adults + 1 dog (my) on a three night/4 day NYE short break, at a cost of £200pp. Unfortunately on day 3 my husband hurt his foot in the pool, when a bit of the pool lining (paint? Fibreglass?) got lodged under his big toenail. It pulled the nail out, and he had to go to A&E to get it put back in.
As you can imagine, this ruined day 3 for all 8 of us - cancelled activities as the others needed to look after the dog/drive us to the hospital etc., and ruined day 4 for him as he couldn't use the pool any more. He also struggled to get around as Longleat is very hilly and on day 4 the land train wasn't running. It's been quite painful for him really, although he puts a brave face on.
I've sent an email to centerparcs customer service stating what happened, and overall we are really happy with how they dealt with things on site- they gladly refunded the activities we couldn't get to, and the medical staff and lifeguards were very impressive and efficient.
I've asked for compensation for our ruined days/expenses getting to hospital etc, but a few people have told me I'm being out of order to ask for it. I'm a bit worried about being an overly sue-happy, really.
Am I doing the right thing? If it helps, we'll be rebooking with centerparcs for september so are hoping that they will offer vouchers towards a future trip. We just want our lost days back!
Cheers guys,
Maz
Especially as you are happy to accept vouchers etc.
Maz - did you complain to management at the time - fill in an accident form e.t.c.? Seeing as they have already refunded the activites you couldn't get to , I'd be surprised if you were compensated anymore - but I'm no expert I very much doubt whether looking after the dog will be taken into consideration.
We just want to get those couple of days refunded or something because he literally couldn't do any activities-cycling, walking, swimming, sauna- all the typical Centerparcs activities. I think it was their fault because the floor was cracked, which isn't something you expect and with proper maintainance shouldn't have happened.
IME Centre parcs are pretty good about offering compensation - I helped my daughter write a polite letter of complaint - she got a big value voucher(£££100s) from them a couple of years ago for a booking c**k up & the outside swimming bits being closed when they went (not informed before going) -allowed them an almost free visit 6 months later.
Your, and your family's break was spoilt through no fault of your own, if you are happy with Centreparcs offering you a complimentary break then I think that's very fair of you all things considered.
