We loved the hotel- I honestly cannot say that any of the negative reviews rang true. I doubt though it is in the league of the Iberostar- however I bet its a lot cheaper! The rooms are without doubt the weakest part of the hotel- the public areas are lovely and the lobby bar is gorgeous. Our room was in truth in need of updating but it was really clean and it didnt bother us at all and it had pretty much everything we needed. Also one thing I noticed that even with people either side of us and above us (we were ground floor) it was super quiet. Have never staying in a hotel where you cannot hear people stomping about above you before.
The staff were LOVELY, so friendly and helpful and although the room was dated the maid did a wonderful job and was so lovely even on the one day we needed all the bedding changing as our little girl was ill (from food on a trip NOT the hotel!), smiling and saying 'no problem!'. People on trip advisor claim that the staff favour people who speak spanish, I cannot believe this is the case- in the whole 2 weeks we were never served out of turn and never without a smile. We wouldnt hesitate to go back
Thanks very much for your reply Rachael.... maybe going to book it this week...

Hope this helps.
Angie.
There was lots of choice when it came to food and drink and we didn't have to wait long to get served. The BBQ nights by the pool were lovely and we had many a lovely evening spent sitting in the lobby bar.
The good stuff far out weighed the niggles and considering what we paid I think we got a great deal. Oh and don't upgrade to VIP- it's so not worth it, we didn't but others did and felt it was a waste of money.
Have a lovely time :-)
I have stayed at the Ocean Sand/Blue twice and love the place. Yes it is all the same resort like another member said sands on one side and blue on the other. The rooms are beautiful everything that you need. The food is amazing you must must go to Mikes coffee shop and try the iced coffees with caramel and toffee they are to die for, or the fruit smoothies Mmmmm. I cannot think of any negative things to tell you about the place it is truly amazing, Wish I was going back this year but I am trying Cuba for a change. You go and enjoy yourself and yea I am already envious of you. I cannot remember exactly how much the Golf was I think between £45-£60 not cheap really. If you need to know anything else please feel free to get in touch with me. Hope you have a great time..
Great to hear some great things about the OB, We are off (Volcano permitting!) on the 26th May for two weeks! Counting the days.............Already a minor setback with Thomas Cook down grading the plane for our journey to & from PC..........That should be fun, 29" seat pitch & no seat back TV/entertainment with 2 kids ..........
you'll have a fab time- hope you are not delayed by this darn volcano! We loved it,Mike's is indeed a great coffee house with some yummy cakes and the Mexican and American dinner restaurants were our favs- and we always got a table although it was super quiet when we went to DR. Am very envious, would love to be going back!
Just back and would return which says a lot x
Thanks in advance
Do you have to pay extra from the room safes? The Wi-Fi?
Apart from the 2 restaurants & bowling & golf not included, are any other (apart from the usual) extra?
Thank you
safes and aircon and fridge all inc in standard rooms plus you get one free bowl
Can some one tell where the best block too stay would be?
Just wondering do the Brits stay on the Blue side?or the Sand!
Oh and what us the difference?
