hiya, we have booked here too for next month (woohoo!). There are tons of reviews (mixed!) on Tripadvisor which should help you. Lots of them are from US travellers who do seem to have a different expectation. I'll post a review when I get back, we are pretty relaxed though so unless its dreadful I imagine we'll be easily pleased. From the photos I have seen the hotel looks really nice and the beach looks amazing.

My understanding is that this part of the DM is great for beach and hotel activities but not heaps to do off resort. I believe there are trips you can do but it is more limited than in the North.

Check back here in about 6 weeks and I'll let you know how we got on.

Is it safe to venture out. Definately yes, just dont flash the cash around or wear expensive jewellery.Care to be taken just like being at home.

Ocean Sands is a great choice. We were there last year (August) and thought it was wonderful. We'd definitely go back. We didn't go on any trips but can highly recommend this hotel.

Cant wait to read reveiw. I know Americans dont always look for the same things we do so hadnt took much notice of trip advisor for that reason.
