Ive been to Malta, its a fab island with history galore if thats your thing.
Never fancied Turkey untill i had my arm twisted in 2008 by my wife, since then weve been back every year.
Personally, I would choose Turkey over any other euro zone. Its cheaper and full of history. As for water parks and boat trips, you wont beat Icmeler.

We are going to Malta for 10 days in 4 weeks time as my husband was stationed there in the army and has always wanted to revisit. It will be a sightseeing holiday and 2 weeks after we get back we are off to our favourite place Icmeler. :tup
I visited Malta many years ago with a friend but never had the wish to go back but I am looking forward to it.
I would opt for Icmeler as there will be more for your son to do such as water parts and boat trips etc.
I have been going to Icmeler since 1992 and love it but it is a totally different holiday to Malta. :que

I love turkey :-) So my vote is for there :-)
I have been to Malta too, (but that was many years ago!) It was nice, but weather wasn’t really that hot, and I like it hot! Silly but one thing I really remember is how bad the roads were, lots of pot holes all over the place, and that there seemed to be no rules to their driving at all! Not sure if its the same now, but that would put me off going back.
I really like Bodrum, Gumbet was good too, but by far my fav was Olu deniz, yes it was a nearly two hour transfer, but it was ok, and nice to see some of the country.
Plenty of things to do around the area, i.e. the trip to see the Lycian rock tombs in the hillside, mud baths, and the amazing turtle beach, as well as plenty of activities.
Can't wait to go back :-)

Having been to Gumbet many years ago I wouldn't describe it as quiet and quaint( which you mentioned in another thread). I didn't like Gumbet at all. I haven't been to Icmeler but I thought that was quite busy too? If I went back again I think it would be Olu Deniz I would pick ( if my research is right!)

I've been to both Icmeler and Malta and liked them both :tup We went to Malta in May and it was boiling, I wouldn't fancy being there in July, but I found Turkey very hot too and that was in June.

There's lots to do and see in Malta, plenty of history. It's cheap to get out and about also as a week's bus pass is only about £12. This entitles you to use any bus at any time of the day/night & at only about 7 miles by 19 it's easy to get around. You can even spend the day on Gozo :tup

Icmeler has hotels and apartments on the sea front, those in the centre of the resort and then theres the old village which is lovely and quiet and overlooking the surrounding hills. Some of the apartments in the village have pool slides and are popular with families.
To decide which part you want to stay look on Icmeleronline as it shows the hotels and apartments, also lots of photos.
I go to a different hotel every year from small family owned places to big 4 beach front ones.
I only go to Turkey in May and September/October as other months a far too hot for me.
Ive been to 12 other resorts and found Icmeler to be the best.
