I work as many of you know in care, we have had a lot of annual leave to cover and sickness. I work nights so therefore worked my butt off covering all the shifts. The shifts are 10 hours, and i worked 70 hours some weeks. In the annual leave year, i have not had any in any shape or form.
I covered the shifts initially because i was saving my annual leave up for future holidays at the end of this year and the beginning of the year.
So..... my last shift is christmas day night, then i do not go back to work until the 16th January 2013. We are going to Great Yarmouth with family for a week over new year, hence my first holiday of the year.
I go back after the 16th January 2013 for 8 shifts then off until the end of February as its my 25th wedding anniversary, so going to Mexico for 2 weeks. I also going to Cyprus in September in a villa with some friends.
Ok...... the other day i put 17 night shifts on the board that need covering, everyone is whinging at me saying omg we wont be able to cover them blah blah blah. The manager is fine as she authorised them. I said to them excuse me, who hasnt had annual leave for a year ???, who has worked here virtually all year with no thanks
