I didn't quite know where to post this as it affects holidays in on both sides of the Atlantic, but there is an eclipse of the sun on November 3rd which will be either partial or total depending where you are on a line crossing the Atlantic from Dominican Republic to Central Africa. People holidaying in the Carribean, Canary Islands, Cape Verde will see a partial eclipse. To find out whch areas will see an eclipse and what percentage of the sun will be blotted out, use this interactive map,

which will allow you to click anywhere along the line of the eclipse (and either side of it) to see what you might see. If you are on Holiday in any affected area, make provision to see it safely with eclipse glasses.
