Now if anybody did fancy a short break away perhap this Groupon deal to a Riad in Marrakech would be tempting? I thought it sounded good value if you can get a cheap flight.

I have only done one really, tend to go for longer, I went to Edinburgh from East Sussex for 3 nights. I flew from Gatwick (flying was the cheapest option)
The flights were excellent (before security was tightened) and the "faffing about" was just about tolerable.
Having returned we both said that we would have to think carefully about going away for just 3 days by air.
Indeed it was 4 years until we tried again - 4 nights LHR to Dusseldorf. Loads of "faffing" at LHR.
Since then we have taken 2 long weekends in Germany, both EasyJet to Cologne from LGW. Less "faffing", but we are beginning to think that the overall travel time (start point to airport / faff at departure airport / flight / faff at arrival airport / travel to destination x2 ) is only worth it for something VERY special if the trip is for less than 1 week.
I should add that, for many years, my work tended to take me to many countries, sometimes flying several sectors in a week, or even a day. I am, therefore, no fan of airports or of being "faffed around".
For trips to the local continent the channel tunnel, with the convenience of taking your own car, works out (for us) both faster and lower cost - without the problems of lugging too much baggage or having to try to squeeze sufficient stuff into hand luggage. We have used this method for France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
Just our preference, of course.
Cheers
Peter
A man after my heart Peter I too dislike 'faff'
