Ive read on customs website that for eg if you travel back from a NON EU country with say 1000 cigarettes you can legally bring them into the UK if they were bought in a EU country. So does this mean I can buy 1000 cigs at east mids & take them to Turkey & bring them back with me providing I keep the receipt as proof of purchase? (they must be for your own personal use).
Thanks
no because you are flying to a non eu country duty free will only allow you 200
Thanks for the reply. But does that mean if I got them into Turkey ( illegally I know) could I then bring them back into the UK legally with a receipt to prove they were bought in UK, if that makes sense ?
Coryaa01,
I know what you mean Coryaa01 but duty free in the UK will warn you that even if you buy 1000 that only 200 of them can be brought back into the UK.
I doubt duty free in uk will sell you more than 200 as they check where you are going with your flight ticket sorry
oh they will - they will sell you 1000 if you are going to Turkey!
They will sell it but you aren't actually allowed to take that much!
