Small irritation observation.
I made a flight-only booking this morning (28.03.15) for which I was given a reference number. I assumed all was in order and that my payment had been taken. When I checked this afternoon a message has been flagged up on screen, but not in my email, to say the transaction could not be processed possibly due to a technical problem and to try later. Is this booking "live"?
There was an 0871 phone number @ 10p per minute to use for further information on this problem. I called to know whether the booking would go through, just rather later than usual, or whether I would need to re-book. I was informed that the waiting time in the "queue" would be about one minute. Twenty minutes later I am still in the phone queue ……
How much better to be given a realistic waiting time. This is just irritating. Or a suggested time when the demand on the operators is expected to be less.
I tried the email contact for technical problems supplied by Thomson. An automated response informed me "Our turn around times 8 days".
I tried several phone numbers given on various Thomson sites. No longer valid. They ought to be taken down.
It has taken 25 minutes to get through to an operator this morning and almost 16 minutes for the problem to be dealt with. No complaint about how the very polite, smart Indian employee checked out the system.
I can expect to have booking confirmation and my on-line ticket delivered to my inbox within 24 to 48 hours.
I still have no idea why the system went down. Nothing I did wrong. However, sorting this out has wasted a lot of time and cost me at least £6 I shouldn't have had to spend.
Mostly it is the inefficiency I mind, Thomson will not be my first choice operator next time.
