I booked a hotel room through late rooms but when I turned up I was turned away and told the rooms were being
refurbished, after a 3 hour drive, I was not best pleased. I have followed this up with late rooms, they're not interested. I contacted
the hotel direct and was told they had sent an email out a few weeks earlier. I asked them to forward me a copy of this email but
they had made a mistake in the email address, which is why I never received it. I had checked the email address I supplied when booking and know this is correct as the confirmation email from late rooms arrived, no problem. The hotel are saying its not their fault as they only copied and pasted the email address from their confirmation, when they clearly didn't!!!! I was never offered an apology or alternative accomodation and spent the next 2 hours trying to find somewhere and driving half way across the country. I had made
the original booking in January as we were off to a marathon in April and it was almost impossible to find another room. I did finally find something which cost me £95 more than the original booking. I really would like to know what my rights are, it feels like Im banging
my head against a brick wall, the hotel just isn't interested at all!!!! ARGH!!!!!!
Hi Sam, what reason are LateRooms giving for not assisting you?
They said the contract is between me and the hotel and that they can only act as a mediator. They did
call the hotel who told them they had sent the email out to notify us (but didnt mention is was to an invalid
email address) and that they are not prepared to compensate. Late rooms passed this message on to me
but said there is nothing more they can do. I have contacted the hotel direct again, but have got nowhere.....
its so frustrating that they get away with this, if I were to cancel on them, I would be charged!!!
How can they justify keeping your money when they said you couldn't have the room? Or have they refunded your room rate but are refusing to cover the cost of the alternative hotel?
